This is a reply to a friend who claimed if not for his ego Jaylen Brown would still be on the Celtics. Obviously wrong, imo. But I started looking at contracts 76ers and Boston relative to 2nd apron and came to a conclusion that surprised me as I wrote it. Thoughts?

>nah it's the Financials the 2nd apron tax. C's couldn't afford 2 max players on long term contracts. PG has 2 years left on his contract making roughly 54 and 55 mil a year. After that where ever he signs he's likely taking a huge pay cut. Jaylen brown has 3 years left making 57, 61, 64 million. After that he will very likely sign for near max on shorter term deals. Celtics could probably get PG to restructure for a pretty decent sized pay cut if it means an extension. Idk if they or PG would be interested but they could keep him longterm as a vet for much more affordable price. Just because of his age and his knees, right? JB stays healthy there will be teams that will likely pay him another max after this contract expires. Celtics have 2 firsts and two 2nd round picks for 2028 draft. Derrick White makes half what max players make and Pritchard has 2 years left on a rookie extension! Only 8 million a year! So Celtics are now equipped to stay really competitive with Tatum, White, and Pritchard with some wiggle room to sign another star as well as develop young talent, fill out roster, move up in a draft maybe? C's look good through 2030 as of now.

>Tyrese Maxey is already on a 5 year 200 million deal fully guaranteed and will no doubt be eligible for a supermax extension next summer. Sixers are going to have to break up this team next year. Embid Maxey and Brown all have at least 3 years left and eat 97% max salary cap. Even if everyone else on the roster was on the bare minimum salary they would hit 2nd apron 27/28 season and get massive tax bill frozen draft picks etc. I doubt this 2nd apron bs will last but Celtics are definitely better positioned. But it's not ego. Just Tatum and Brown alone would be eating up 90% celtics max salary cap 28/29 season. Past 3 or 4 years role players value was artificially inflated in free agency as teams loaded up in response to "the big 3" era. With increased luxury tax and now 2nd Apron teams will barely be able to pay a single super max 2 years from now. All as an over reaction to warriors dynast and LeBron's run in the east. Turns out all NBA really needed to do was let LeBron and Steph and Klay get old and the dynasty/parity issue fixes itself lol

So my question is do you think it's all just a (really delayed) overreaction to the warriors "dynasty" and LeBron's finals run in the East? Do you think things would have even been that different considering Curry and James and Durant were generational talents that together just changed the game?

I think I saw a post in here about zen and art. Here are some lyrics. Like a koan. What's your commentary?

Some will learn, many do

Cover up or spread it out

Turn around, had enough

Pick and choose or pass it on

Buying in, heading for

Suffer now or suffer then

It's bad enough I want the fear

Need the fear, 'cause he's alone

He's alone

(And he has become)

Well, if they're making it (making it)

Then they're pushing it (pushing it)

And they're leading us along

The hassle of (hassle of)

All the screaming fits (screaming fits)

That panic makes remorse

After all, what's the point?

'Cause levitation is possible

If you're a fly, achieved and gone

There's time for this and so much more

It's typical, create a world

A special place of my design

To never cope, or never care

Just use the key, 'cause he's alone

He's alone

(And he has become)

Well, if they're making it (making it)

Then they're pushing it (pushing it)

And they're leading us along

The hassle of (hassle of)

All the screaming fits (screaming fits)

That panic makes remorse

Over and over a slave, became

Over and over a slave, became

(Over!) And (over!) A slave, became

(Over!) And (over!) A slave

[Oc] my mother planted these young pines. The closest I've found is a Korean Fir but idk. Bit the cones are a gorgeous blue color.
