Nickel sensitivity/allergy - is a mild skin reaction worth an allergy test? Will that help identify food sensitivity?
Hi all, so I've been questioning if I have a nickel allergy / food sensitivity, due to reactions to oats and coconut.
I have MCAS and histamine intolerance, and I didn't realise but when I went low histamine and felt loads better, I was also by default cutting out most high nickel foods, so an elimination diet can't really help me at this point. I have already cut out oats and coconut because of my reactions and there aren't many low histamine high nickel foods left, I think I've already cut them all out. 😬🤷♀️
I wore a nickel sensiband for a week and this was the result. I had a similar but less intense reaction when worn for 2 days on the other arm. I wore the cobalt one for a week with no reaction so I know it's not the strap or just sweat/irritation from metal in general. Would you think this is such a small reaction it makes nickel sensitivity unlikely, or does this look significant enough to you that maybe I'm onto something?
Is there any point in going to the next step and getting patch testing, when my primary concern is food reactions, not metal sensitivity? What are your thoughts? This looks minor compared to some of the reactions described here, especially after wearing the band for a week.
Thanks all!
