what color?

2 months vs. 4 months
his grandmothers on both maternal & paternal sides have green eyes
dad has hazel eyes
mom has brown eyes.

what do we think? i’m thinking hazel or a really light brown!
ignore his eye crusties in the second pic he had just woken up lol
his eyes do look a lot more green in the sun though! this was just taken with flash (second pic)

i hate bottle feeding

as the title says, i absolutely hate bottle feeding.

i’ve built up a small freezer stash (about35 oz so far) that i mainly use when my boobs and nipples are too sore to nurse.

i haven’t been feeling well for the past day and a half, so i decided to give my boobs a break and thawed a 2oz bag for my baby (6 weeks old). i warmed it up in the bottle warmer, and when i tried feeding him, he looked absolutely disgusted and kept struggling to latch. i used the evenflo glass wide+ bottles and pace feed too.

eventually his dad took over, and of course he latched just fine for him 🙄 lol. he drank about 1oz, got burped, and fell asleep. about an hour later he woke up hungry again, so i figured i’d offer him the rest of the bottle.

absolutely not. he cried, refused to latch, and wanted nothing to do with it.

this is only his second time trying these bottles because we usually use the mam glass bottles. i have no idea if he didn’t like the bottle, the thawed milk, or if he’s just gotten so used to nursing since the last time he had a bottle was about two weeks ago. (i also think he might be going through a growth spurt as he’s had an increase in fussing/crying.)

either way, i ended up breastfeeding him, he fell asleep almost immediately, and now i’m sitting here writing this.

i absolutely hate the way bottle feeding makes me feel. i know it sounds irrational, but it makes me feel less needed and kind of disconnected. not from him, just overall i guess. i genuinely love breastfeeding. it’s one of the times i feel the closest to my baby, aside from snuggling skin to skin.

anyway, thanks for reading my little rant. i’m really not looking forward to pumping while i’m at school and having him take bottles with his dad. 🙃

vaccines while breastfeeding?

not asking for medical advice, just shared experiences!! ⚠️

i’m currently applying to a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, and they require proof of the MMR, varicella, and influenza vaccines. i’ve already received my Tdap and COVID vaccines, but i still need the others.

i asked my OB-GYN whether it would be okay to get these vaccines while I’m breastfeeding. she told me that she personally advises against it, but that the decision is ultimately mine.

my son is only 6 weeks and 2 days old, and i absolutely love breastfeeding him. it has become such a special bonding experience for us, and i really don’t want to do anything that could interfere with it or put him at risk.
has anyone received the MMR, varicella, or flu vaccines while breastfeeding? if so, what was your experience? did everything go well for you and your baby?

i’m feeling really torn because i want to be admitted into the CNA program, but i also want to do what’s best for my newborn. any experiences, or insight would be greatly appreciated!!
