Boring post about list strategies across comp

With Close out of form, Stengle personal matters and Miers struggling with injury, it seems like we've been struggling without crumbers to move the footy and score from the ground balls i50. Our four week patch a month ago where we looked dangerous was a month where Mannagh played out of his skin.

High half forwards built a lot of what we achieved in 22, but now, with some exceptions, most good teams aren't using the position all that much. Freo, Brissy, Sydney and Adelaide have built lists around the midfield playing the repeat 50 game with tall forward lines, relying on those mids to pull off the transition game when necessary.

So is the high half forward role dead? Do you think we'll be right if we can get our smalls back before finals? Where do you see list development going in the future for us and in the AFL? Is my analysis completely wrong?
