This osprey and a few others recently discovered the fish ladder in a town near where I live. This one caught a big bottom feeder late morning yesterday.

I was watching this osprey fishing off a beach in Maine. A nearby double-crested cormorant tried to steal its catch but the osprey got away after a brief pursuit.

I spotted these two on my way home from birding and was struck by how pale their heads looked. The one in the second picture took off and circled a few times overhead before flying away.
