Sunrise over Archway
Beautiful sunrise this morning from Hampstead Heath, looking over St. Anne's church and the abandoned Archway Campus.
How to take good low-light moonrise photos?
My new hobby is moonrise photos. But I can't seem to get very good quality photos.
Before I go out to buy any gear, I want to make sure I understand the best approach. I'm not sure if a better lens/larger sensor would help anyways, as it might just overexpose the moon.
The advice I've seen online is to take photos when the sun is setting at the same time as the moonrise. I agree with this, but it also rules out a lot of amazing moonrises, which look great to my eye, but awful to the camera.
Things I've considered:
- Take a photo of the landscape at dusk, then composite the moon into that.
- Take a long exposure of the landscape if it's already dark, then composite the moon into that.
- Image stacking? I've seen this work for astrophotography. But I think this would only work for the landscape, not the moon, as there are often clouds and atmospheric haze - which I want to keep because they look cool.
From Googling, it looks like compositing is the most common approach, but I'd prefer to get everything in camera if possible. I don't enjoy editing, much.
Current gear: Fujifilm XT30 II, XC 50-230mm f4.5-6.7 OIC.
Some photos for reference. The one above is from last night which turned out super grainy. Makes sense because it was near midnight.
I think this is my best: https://ibb.co/n8BzBF43

This one needed compositing of a lower and higher exposure image:

Appreciate any advice and feedback.

Headphones for Roland piano with ANC
I have a pretty narrow set of requirements which I’m struggling to find a solution for:
- ANC
- EQ
- Decent sounding (AirPods Pro sound good to me)
- Easy to drive with a terrible built-in piano amp
- All features work in wired mode
I have a Roland piano. I’ve got Roland RH-5 (came with piano) and Anker Soundcore Q30. Both sound pretty bad with the piano via 3.5mm. I also tried a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter with similar results. The max volume is very mid.
I have to use wired mode because Bluetooth latency is awful for piano.
Unfortunately the Q30 ANC and EQ don’t work when wired. Otherwise I like them. Their ANC is fine, and I really need it to drown out family noise while playing - kettle, sewing machine, dogs, etc.
I’ve considered an amp with an EQ, but the ones I’ve seen recommended cost about as much as decent pair of headphones. Also the ANC doesn’t work while wired on the Q30s so I’d need to get different headphones which do support it.
Any suggestions for headphones which match this? I’ve found none so far. Otherwise, a decent cheap amp with EQ?
Thanks!

Bus routes visualisation
Full-res version: https://ibb.co/0PZVZw2
I've been working on a website, TeaFull, which generates stats from Contactless taps. I accidentally created this beauty while adding a "frequent bus routes" visualisation.
It shows every TfL bus route in London. The more bright red, the more routes serve that segment of road^(*).
I just love how organic it looks. Reminds me of slime mould.
The last image shows my most-used routes - I've got a lot to explore, still.
* I'm not a statistician/data scientist. Bus route data is from TfL's API. Map data is from MapLibre, CARTO and OpenStreetMap.
