Two weeks of bug reports on UO Mobile Classic — all 20, and what happened to each

TLDR: 20 bug reports in two weeks from 13 of you. 19 fixed. v1.0.56 is live on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows and Linux. Here's the full list, including the one I still can't work out.

Two weeks ago I posted that iOS/Mac/Android were live and asked people to use the in-game bug report tool. You did. Rather than a changelog, THANK YOU! Here's every report and exactly where it stands.

Already live (v1.0.56, all platforms)

- The vendor Sell button opened the Buy window. NoxSoldier reported this seven times before I got to it. Sorry, and thanks for not giving up.

- Skills could reset to starting values. There was a path that wrote a save with no skill data at all, wiping your progression on the next load. Found it and closed it. (Zym, this one genuinely cost you.)

- Items in a monster's corpse were never consumed, so they could be used forever and dragging one afterwards crashed the game.

- Running was ~67% faster than it should have been, which is also why the legs skated. (Skiter)

- Dragging a skill out to make a shortcut only worked if you released within a few pixels of the window edge. (Zi) - A castle you couldn't get into, all four archways were solid. (quirt)

- The bug reporter could trap you with no way out. On phones and tablets there was no escape at all. That one was squarely my fault, in the very tool I'm asking you to use. (Adventurer)

- 4K and Linux: the game opened in a small fixed window with no way to zoom. It now sizes to your screen. (Brynn)

- The tutorial couldn't be finished on some Android devices. (Lourdes)

- Skill trainers: the Train button did nothing. You could pick a skill and see the price, but tapping Train never trained you, the button was drawn just outside its own window, so taps were thrown away before they reached it. (Kendra, who had to report it twice.)

- "Connected to:" showing a blank name after reconnecting. Looked like the connection had dropped when it was fine. (Toda)

Fixed this week, in the next build

- Getting permanently stuck in terrain. One player ended up standing on the sea floor, walled in by a 30-unit cliff on every side. He couldn't have walked in and couldn't walk out — and since your position is saved, relogging didn't help either. That character was just gone. The game now spots when you're genuinely walled in and moves you somewhere safe, including characters that are already stuck. (Tommy Phantom, who reported it three times in six minutes.)

- Skill buttons "bugging on and off". A skill card only counted as a tap if your finger moved less than 8 pixels, on a card smaller than a fingertip. Most taps registered as drags, so the card shifted slightly and the skill never fired. That's also why cards wandered into odd corners of the screen.

Still open — one

- A "stuck on tower" report I can't explain. I pulled the map data for that exact spot and every direction is walkable stone. If that was you or it happens again, any extra detail helps. (Grimm Ravenclaw)

Nearly every fix above exists because someone stopped playing for a minute to file a report. Quick Commands → Report Bug attaches a screenshot and your location automatically. THANK YOU!

Ultima Mobile IOS Update (now on Mac, Android and iOS...)

Quick update for anyone who's been following.

First, Thank you all for the support and interest. it's been a daunting project, but nice to know others are enjoying the offline mobile version, or at least the idea of it.

macOS got approved on the Mac App Store this week. Android is live on Google Play. iOS is live too, just not on the App Store - more on that in a sec. Windows and Linux builds are on the site.

The Apple part: the Mac version sailed through review. The iOS version got bounced over and over, and the last round wasn't about wording or icons, it was "this is too close to an existing game." That's not something you argue your way out of, so I stopped trying. iOS ships as a free public TestFlight beta instead.

Install TestFlight, tap the link, done. Same build.

Everything's here: runawayideas.net/uoclassic

Fair warning, it's still not perfect. If something breaks or looks wrong, please use the bug report tool in Quick Commands in game rather than just closing it. It grabs the details automatically and it's way more useful to me than "it crashed." I do read all of them and try to post fixes quickly.

Thanks again!

Enjoy

Ultima Mobile... iOS update: the App Store said no.

Hey everyone, wanted to be straight with you, especially those who said they'd jump in once Ultima Mobile for you Tablet hit iOS.

Quick background for anyone new: I've been building a free, offline-first mobile recreation of classic Ultima Online, every land connected into one seamless world, no subscriptions, no ads, runs entirely on your mobile device. It's live and free right now on Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The one place it won't be is the iOS App Store — and I want to own that, not point fingers.

Apple rejected it under their "Copycats" guideline: the app resembles Ultima Online without authorization. And honestly? They're right. I tried hard to meet them halfway, renamed it from "Ultima Mobile Classic" to just "UM Classic," scrubbed every Ultima and Britannia reference from the listing, even pulled the intro video. But at the end of the day the game looks like UO… because it's a love letter to UO, built in that world. No rename fixes that, and I don't hold the rights, it's a non-commercial passion project, and the risk has always been mine. I went in knowing that.

So no hard feelings toward Apple. They're doing exactly what they're supposed to. I'm just genuinely gutted, because I know so many of you are on iPads and were looking forward to it.

The plan: I'm trying to get it out through TestFlight (Apple's beta channel) a separate, lighter review. It's pending right now. If it's allowed through, I'll drop a public link and up to 10,000 people can install it on iPad. Everything's crossed that it comes through, and I'll post the link the second it's live.

Until then it's all there and free on Android + desktop:

Thanks for all the love on this project. To everyone waiting on iOS, I'm still fighting for you. 🤞

Ultima Offline... Mobile... On your Tablet?

Its out! it's not perfect, but it's out. you can play Ultima from your tablet, Offline or Online. Sooo Cool!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oufamily.game

It's been a long project, and just getting all the lands merged into a single world map took way longer than expected. Plus new custom boat routs, pirates, and quests, it was a bit more than i expected porting a game over from the classic windows version to a mobile platform. but it's at a good release point. Playable and fun!

I had to make my own complete world builder tool as well. Was thinking i should release these as a separate package if anyone wanted to go wild and build out their own custom world stuff.

Anyway, its been fun, and hard, but it's here. i hope you enjoy!

Android = Live

IOS = Pending Review

Windows = Live from website

MacOS = Live from website

Linux = Live from website
