Yarn Label Paper

Hello! I want to make labels for my hand dyed skeins that wrap around them. I'm having trouble figuring out what weight of paper to use. Not standard, but card stock seems too thick. What weight do you all use for yours if you have them?

Cast Iron Pot?

Hello! Can a cast iron pot be utilized for adding iron to darken fibres? I was looking into iron mordants and realized I have a cast iron pot, but I'm not sure if that's strong enough to mordant- could I alum mordant, dye, and add fibre to the cast iron to deepen the colour? I figure that if I already have it I might as well ask!

Dyeing with Weld

Thank you all for the advice on my post!! I can't believe my first dye came out so well, it's the exact shade I was dreaming of. I made two 150g dorset handspun skeins for fresh weld, and I have a LOT more drying in my greenhouse. I ran outside for a quick picture in the daylight, and it's back in the dark drying now.

Next up to dye is orange cosmos, and next week I'll be dyeing goldenrod with a friend!

Alum Mordanting Animal Safety

Hello! I'm dyeing for the first time today with weld! I own a number of animals, so I bought a hot plate to dye in the bathroom. I'm dying without the E. The water has been heating for 45 minutes and isn't close to a simmer. The hot plate is letting off fumes. My back hurts from sitting on the floor 😂

I'm mordanting with alum- I can lock all of my animals out of my kitchen except my blue tongue skink, who's 20' away from the stove. If I have the fan on high and windows open, do you think it would be safe for me to mordant in the kitchen? I'm really starting to lose it in here 😅

Tuna Meltdown

My friend jokingly said she wants "I'm gonna have a tuna meltdown" as a shirt, so I spent way too much time making this 😂 I have it as a Google drive for downloads too, but I don't know how to attach that 😅
