Hard to believe I'm almost at the point of maintenance but here we are!

After 17 months I'm down 34kg and only have 4kg left until my actual goal (I've exceeded my initial goal but still have quite high body fat and that goal was just to get me in the low overweight range).

I had a consult today about maintenance and was told for every kg lost on Mounjaro, I'll need a month on a maintenance dose. So for me, this will be 38 months on a dose that suppresses my appetite (that dose is TBD). Apparently this is the advice coming from dieticians now.

Is anyone on maintenance dosage and been told the same thing? Or how long did you need maintenance doses for? Another 38 months is a massive expense 😬

This might be common knowledge, but I hadn't seen it mentioned before so I thought I would share.

I had surgery 2 weeks ago, and stopped mounjaro a week before surgery (I was told it was fine to continue my normal dose which happened to be 6 days before the operation). I was told to wait a week and then I could resume.

I normally use insulin syringes but the pharmacy had run out so I got pen needles. Did my 30 clicks as normal (I'm on a half dose of the pen) and injected. Pushed the end down and thought it went a bit quick but didn't think much of it because I hadn't used them in so long.

Today I was due for my next shot. I REALLY noticed in the last 2 weeks how much my food noise was returning and the volume of food I was craving and eating. It seemed odd because I only missed the one shot. I was also gaining weight (around 1kg which is quite unusual for me - but I have also been very sedentary and unable to move around much due to foot surgery).

I did my next shot with a pen needle and again the plunger went in crazy fast, but this time I noticed the plunger inside the pen didn't move at all.

Because I'd been using a syringe up until last week I guess it threw off the click/plunger system because the plunger didn't work at all. Two weeks in a row. I noticed today so I was able to use another spare insulin syringe (albeit painfully with a thicker gauge), and actually get my dose.

Anyway, I'm not sure if others have noticed this, it doesn't look like many people are switching between pen needles and syringes on the regular (probably for this exact reason) but just wanted to share!

(Unless of course I have a faulty pen and then none of this is relevant to anyone 😂)

I'm having surgery next week, I've been told I'm fine tm continue my regular mounjaro dose but I need to fast clear liquids only 48 hours prior to the operation (I won't need Mounjaro on that diet lol).

For those that have done it what did you consume? I don't eat animal products so broth is limited. Must be completely clear.
