Last dose…faulty pen?

I’ve been taking half doses of this pen and went to use my 8th and final dose, except I couldn’t load the dose…it would not turn. I went to my GP to get a syringe so I could get the last dose and also too the pen to my pharmacist, who will ask if that is normal or it’s faulty.

Anyone else had this issue?

20kg down!

Just went up to 5mg after a slow increase and feeling good. :)

(Note the direct line down over the first period is because I didn’t weigh myself due to scales trauma. But I’m working through that with a nutritionist.)

Advice on starting Mounjaro

Hi,

I (F26) was offered a free weightloss telehealth consult and decided to take it. During the phonecall the doctor went straight into wanting to prescribe Mounjaro without really looking at my past medical history or any medications Im already taking.

I previously lost weight (9kg down to 70kg over 3months but gained this back in the past few months due to family stressors).

He prescribed it 2.5mg weekly and also gave me some bloods to be done. Then he wants to re-review in 4 weeks. I have questions though.

For context, Im approx 160cm and 81kg.

  1. Does it interact with stimulants? I am starting Ritalin LA 40mg daily as I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood. This already is supposed to suppress appetite and weightloss is a side effect some people have. I have noticed nutrition impacts the effects of the meds. I have been struggling to eat during the day but at night when it wears off I tend to binge a little bit (think ice creams, big dinner and snacks).

  2. Do I need to be on a specific diet for Mounjaro? Or should I have exercise plans in place also?

  3. What are the side effects? He said nausea and diarrhoea etc but he said its VERY rare and I've heard a lot about the medication having severe side effects etc. I already have IBS so I dont want to get raging diarrhoea from it too.

  4. Does it affect mood and energy? I'm not diabetic and dont have any co-morbidities. Im aware mounjaro is originally a diabetes medication so I dont want to drop my sugars and get the mood disturbances or energy loss due to low sugars.

  5. How much weight do you regain when stopping and do you get rebound hunger when stopping? I think I will be decent at maintaining healthy diet etc when stopping it if I start Mounjaro but I dont want to jump between really hungry and not hungry when off and on the medication.

Sorry for the post being all over the place. I went into the consult not expecting medication and it was all very rushed and Im questioning if I should start it or not. My husband is very against it as he says I shouldn't use diabetic medications for weightloss but a doctor prescribed it? Im very on the fence.

Week 11 on Mounjaro. Weight loss is going well overall, down nearly 10kg, appetite definitely reduced and food noise is much better. But mentally I’ve been feeling more low, flat and slightly depressed week by week and I’m trying to understand if it’s the medication or the calorie deficit

or just life stress + winter in Australia with these 4:30pm sunsets.

Anyone else experienced this on Mounjaro? Did it improve over time or after changing dose/diet/routine?

Journey so far

8 jabs in - happy so far. For context - 55 year old female. I was really worried about starting this journey. I am prone to putting on weight very easily. I am not an overeater but I snack too much/often and I am an emotional eater. I am also battling some genetics with obesity issues rampant in my family.

Reduction of food noise has been an absolute game changer for me. Not feeling hungry at all has completely reduced my reaching for snacks as a means of mental break/ dealing with angst.

The good news is having lost 8 kg I now don’t have knee pain and feel I can actually start doing some mild exercise.

Side effects have been mostly GI related but subside as the days wear on following the jab. I had been feeling exhausted but I think that might be from calorie deficit rather than anything else- since I have found some days I can’t eat at all.

So my next goals are - start some exercise- plan small snacks on those days where I can’t stomach food and stay on 5mg for as long as I can.

I am so glad I started this journey.

?5th dose

Im sure this has been asked before - sorry in addvnace for the repetition - I've been using the Mounjaro kwikpen for 4weeks, noticed there was a lot left so I pulled it out and there is another 0.6ml dose in there. Is this the golden dose that has been said isnt able to get anymore or are kwikpens used for 5 weeks now?

If it is a golden dose what does everyone do with it - stretch out the pens or double shot for a boost?

Slight gap on injector

Hi all,

Just received my second mounjaro pen today and for some reason after using it, there is a slight gap on the injector when it’s at 0.

Is this fine/normal and has this happened to anyone else?

Lessons learned eating poorly

As the title says , I’ve been on mounjaro since September last year have gone from 172kgs to currently 140kg . I had been eating properly up until probably the last 4 weeks and have experienced constant Sulfur burps and severe loose movements.

While i attribute falling off the wagon to emotional eating and depression I need to take responsibility to be disciplined and stop eating the food causing these issues.

Foods and drinks that have returned causing these issues are ice break iced coffee (my major vice) kfc and red rooster, while red rooster was ok once a week without the chips , packets of chips which is possibly the worse and occasional chocolates.

So back tomorrow , brat diet initially to stem the issues and then back onto FODMAP which has been the best for me personally.

I hope my monologue can maybe bring insight that we may fall off the wagon with many things in life but hopefully with motivation again and to show my weakness in a forum that’s open to scrutiny I can achieve my initial goal which is under 100kgs

Best of luck to others out there with their challenges

Maybe stalling a bit.. but noticing little changes.

Pic with bra was July 2025. Pic with cupping bruises was may 2026 (last friday)

I posted a few weeks ago how ive lost 20kg and still stalling.

Training hard and all that. Ivr been pretty down about it cos im doing the things I need to.

I hate photos.. I always avoid body shots cos I hate how I look.

I pulled my bicep muscle at the gym had myotherapy done on friday last week, never had this it came with some cupping... wanted to take a pic of my back to see the cup bruises 🤣🤣 when I took it and saw the pic, I thought id compare my back pic I took for progress reasons last year when I started.

And I stumbled looking at the difference (haha yes funny.. cupping bruises makes a difference lol), can someone tell me and confirm to me that theres a difference apart from 20kg loss?????

Anyways, I sorta feel better seeing this. I think. I dont know and posting it here, not sure its a good idea but I just thought id just see how its recieved.

Please dont be harsh with me (I know im still fat)....I am quite sensitive and it took me a few days to decide to post it or not, ill take it down if its too much.

First month on 2.5mg - 4kg down

4kgs lost over 4 weeks of 2.5mg
Even though it’s not a lot, I feel optimistic.

I thought my life was going to be ruled by my BED and food noise.
I feel like I finally have some space for other things in my mind.

How long can any Gap be between scripts? Can any GP write prescription

Follow up post re my previous post asking about no reduction in hunger cravings.. It has got better and is a bit easier to not get hunger pains, but nothing really changed as such and some days I feel like I'm starving but is semi possible to push through as getting good weight loss so far...

However the prescribing Docter for my course is not a GP, rather a specialist, being a Sleep Apnia Dr. Obviously the first dose, is 4 doses at 2.5mg. Ideally I should have a new script made so at the end of my 4th week I can get my next dose. However the reception of the Dr said I can't get in until 2 weeks after my 4th dose ends... I'm in the beginning of my 3rd week and getting good weight loss about 7.4.-8kg down. I don't want to lose the roll I'm on, but if I can't get into my specialist what effects or side effects on the loss of dose will it have possibly if I can't get in for 2 weeks after my 4 week dose ends? Can only the prescribing Dr that begun the course continental the prescription ? I also assume I'd need to discuss weight loss, side effects etc for Dr to either continue dose as is or step it up. Not sure if Teli health is am option but reception are the power hub gry renter cop type that they have the final say and dont care about my requirements of the drug I been prescribed...

Thoughts please

Thanks all for your help so far.

Please talk me off the illogical worry ledge

You know how some days you just get in your own head and then start mini spiralling? That's me today. Talk me off the ledge fam.

I'm 7.5 months in. I've lost 20% of my starting weight and only just went up to 5mg two weeks ago. But I feel like my weight loss is stalling. There are logical reasons for this of course. I weigh less now, the possible calorie deficit without under eating is smaller (I'm short), this week I'm pre-menstrural so mounjaro feels like its not even working (found this to be the case previous months too).

But part of me is looking at the trial data and going "Well you've basically lost percentage wise what they did in the trial" and "You've decreased 8 bmi points, which is what people in your starting category lost" - and I'm low key freaking out that I'm at the end of the road and maybe this is as far as it will take me. Maybe increasing my dosage further wont really do anything.

I still have another 15%/16kg to lose to be in healthy bmi range.

Please reassure me that this is illogical and share your success stories of continuing to lose after making it to the trial averages and continuing to lose past 8-9 months 🙏

Food anxiety

Hi, this is my first ever reddit post! I have been on 2.5mg for 4 weeks and only lost 1.5kg, so was a bit disappointed. I have about 15kg to lose. I am questioning myself alot around the food I am eating ... Am I eating too much, too little, did I overeat at dinner, did I get enough protein, fibre. Questioning if I'm hungry, or if I AM hungry - questioning if the meds are working. Its endless! My doctor has prescribed me to move up to 5mg, but I already feel full after eating etc, just not a lot of weight movement. I feel like if I keep going like this I'll end up with an eating disorder. Anyone else feel this way and how to move past it?

MJ and RA

I have been on Mounjaro since November 2023 and achieved normal BMI after 12 months. Prior to starting I was on medication for high blood pressure and rheumatoid arthritis and within two weeks of commencing MJ my BP normalised and has stayed that way and I also was able to to come of methotrexate after about 6 weeks as I no longer had joint swelling or pain. I recently decided that I’d have a trial of coming right off MJ purely because of the cost and I am at around the two week mark since my last injection and the joint pain I experiencing has me barely able to move, similar to the original RA flairs. I have tried to extend the between my doses a few times before and the same thing has happened… I get to about day 12 and the joint pain becomes noticeable and by week 2-3 it becomes almost unbearable and I need strong pain killers. The MJ has been far superior for managing the RA to any other medication I have been on (hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate), neither of which I have needed for the last few years since I started MJ. Has anybody else experienced this?

Can I take jab 1 day early?

I’m doing international travel in 2 weeks and I didn’t want to take it with me. So I was thinking if I took it 1 day early now that might give me some time to get used to the higher dose side effects and then in 7 days go back to normal? Any suggestions on this?

Golden Dose: how did you get your syringes?

I have three golden doses sitting in the fridge from my recently finished pens but I can’t work up the courage to walk into the chemist and ask for 1ml insulin syringes 4-6mm knowing the chemist is likely to assume I’m trying to extract the golden dose.

For those who have done this, what was your experience? Did you get questioned about why you wanted them? Did they hand them over? Did you have to shop around to different chemists? Which chemist provided them? Was it one of the big chains like Priceline and Chemist Warehouse? And how long were the needles? I use 4mm on the pen and am hoping I don’t need to compromise with the syringe.

Up until now I’ve heard that chemists are reluctant to sell the syringes as Lilly reps have encouraged them not to. All online stores seem to be sold out except for Amazon which sells them but states they’re not sterilised or not for medical use.

This medication is not cheap and the thought of wasting 3 doses because I can’t get my hands of the syringes is the worst!

Knowing other people’s experiences would help me know what to say and what to expect! Thank you all!
