Filed claim months later - will I be denied?

I’m in California.

I have Mercury insurance.

I parked at my work garage on Halloween 2025 and when I got back to my car around 3pm, there was a dent in my front bumper. I don’t know who did it and there is no camera present.

I did not want to file a claim with my insurance because I did not want my rates to go up so I told myself I would deal with the bump later and pay out of pocket.

Life got in the way and there was no mechanical damage to the car so eventually, I went to get quotes and was of course putting it off some more.
The quotes were higher than my deductible.

I finally decided I don’t want to look at my dent anymore and filed a claim yesterday.

Today, I got a text from the adjuster asking why I filed late:

###
MERCURY: Please be advised that per your policy, a claim must be filed within 21 days of the incident. Can you please explain why this claim was not filed within that time frame? Coverage is not confirmed.

ME: At the time of the incident, the damage appeared manageable and I intended to pay for repairs out of pocket rather than file a claim.

After realizing the extent/cost of the damage was greater than initially expected, I decided to submit the claim through my insurance.

As soon as I made that decision, I contacted Mercury to report the loss.
###

My obvious question is, am I cooked or will I still get approved? The business day is over and I suspect I won’t hear back until tomorrow, if not longer.

Anyone with insight from the industry or with experience have any clues?

Thanks.

Empty Plane - late September

Hello everyone, I have booked a trip to Taiwan on a whim using my United frequent flyer miles in September… Specifically the last week of September. I noticed that my flight is from SFO to Taipei and the entire plane is pretty much empty. To be fair (and yes, ignorance on my part), I have not done much research on Taiwan beyond cursory reading. I just read on the state department website for the United States that September is still typhoon season in Taiwan. Could this be why there are so few seats booked? The plane - in economy class - is practically empty. Considering I booked with miles, my reservation is fully cancelable and refundable so I am willing to drop my itinerary at any moment and rebook it for another time.

Any insight appreciated!

Side note: this would also be my first Asia trip.

Thank you.

Just Received Notice RE: RTO

We just got word from the Executive team at my department RE: Newsom sending a memo to all departments heads moving forward with his RTO order. No, can’t say what department, but I am sure many of you will get similar notices today.

All I can say is, we are 200,000 workers strong.
That is a lot of people who could potentially turn their backs on his future ambitions and I hope we do.

Newsom is not pro-worker.
Affordability crisis is worsening.

Six years of proving we can work in a hybrid setting, six years of pay cuts. This is a joke.

F u c k you, Gavin.

Cum Smells Like Sugar

Just wanted to share, since I (39 years old) joined this forum and started using the following:

1.) Pygeum
2.) Brazil Nuts
3.) ZMA
4.) sunflower lecithin

My cum smells like sugar/sweet. I mean, I also eat a lot of fruits during the day so I am not sure if that has something to do with it.

Just wanted to share this random fact. lol
