If you had to walk from Turner's Cross to the An Post depot on Togher industrial estate, which way would you go?

Google maps is suggesting there's some sort of footpath along the river past Barry's and under the South Ring (see picture below) which I never knew about. Is that way safe, or will I just walk the long way round or take the 203?
