There Stands Jackson-Manassas Battlefield National Park
This image is not intended glorify Stonewall Jackson, it's a piece of American History that caught my eye as a young man in the mid-80s. It's an image that speaks more loudly to me now in my early 70s as I watch the growing polarization of our world and think back on the carnage brought about by similar divisions in the past.
It's a dawn image created on July 21 of 1980 or 81, an anniversary of the First Battle of Manassas. I was alone on the field, pondering the brutality that followed over the rest of the day so many years before, when I spotted the cannon nearby and the distant statue. As I worked along the Union held ridge, this spot totally captured my imagination with the cannon barrel aimed at Jackson on the next ridge.
There Stands Jackson. Canon F1; 200mm prime; Probably Ektachrome.

I always love the "Golden Waves of Grain" found in this field, but I kinda like the details in BnW
