Weird corner wall in Lien hall?

first of all, i know people are probably tired of answering all of the questions about housing, so please lmk if i would be better off just emailing the residential community director to ask my question.

my roommate and i have been trying to plan out the layout for our dorm in lien hall, and ive noticed that theres a little square part of the wall that sticks out (maybe for a vent) in all of the pictures. however, when i look at the floor plans the only rooms that should have those are on the corners. we want to both put our beds against the wall (something about sleeping not against a wall lowk scares me 💀), but if that extra thing is there then we won’t be able to.

does anyone know if every room has this, or is it just the corner rooms? i saw the picture on this link: https://reslife.washu.edu/living-at-washu/residential-life-facilities/virtual-tour/

french 1020 enrollment capacity?

hello! i’m an incoming freshman in artsci, and i recently took the french placement exam and was placed into french 1020. i went ahead and added both sections of french 1020 to my saved schedules (both to my first choice and second choice ones), but on workday i saw that the amount of open spots in one of the classes is 8, and in the other it’s only 2. im just worried about getting a spot in this class because on the french placement canvas it says that i can only take the specific class that i placed into.

if i don’t get a spot in french 1020, should i try to start learning a different language from the beginning? or should i just try again to sign up for a different semester? are french classes at washu hard to get a spot in? thank you!

sick with stomach virus/food poisoning

i’ve been in costa rica for 5 days and in la fortuna for 2. last night i started having severe body aches but i just assumed it was because i got a massage for the first time (lol). this morning i woke up and ive been having non stop diarrhea and ive been throwing up as well. i kinda doubt its food poisoning because i think everything ive eaten someone else in my family also ate, and im the only one who’s sick rn. i’ve taken some pepto and i’ve been having a lot of water, but im still worried about dehydration and when this will end. before one of my family members goes into town, do pharmacies in la fortuna have any stomach medicines that work better/are stronger than pepto? would i need a prescription? also just any advice on how to get through this 😭

disability resources for incoming freshman?

first of all, happy graduation to the class of 2026! congratulations!

I’m an incoming freshman for fall 2026, and i’m wondering about the quality of disability resources at washu. i’ve already had quite a bit of trouble with contacting them about getting accommodations. it’s not possible to call them because they don’t pick up and the voicemail box is full, and it’s difficult to email as well because it takes multiple days to get any response. i filled out the accommodations request form as early as i could and included all of the necessary files, but they contacted me saying i need to meet with them. i don’t know if that’s normal, and the meeting keeps getting moved. of course i know that this is a busy time, i just worry if this is the norm for disability resources, and i worry about working with them the next 4 years. i’m starting to wonder if it’s even worth the time and if i should just stop having accommodations. i have adhd, so i guess it would be possible for me to go without accommodations, ive just had them for the past 6 years so i get nervous…

what are people’s experiences working with disability resources, especially with adhd? is it even worth it to pursue accommodations? thank you all!
