Partner won't let me leave the kids for a vacation
So before kids, I loved to travel. It was a big part of my life. When partner and I started dating, he definitely got defensive when I traveled with friends or for work, taking it personally that I didn't want to be with him.
Now that we have 2 kids, youngest is 6, every time I travel its a fight. Can't just be a reasonable convo between 2 adults. I am always with my kids, yes he gives me the odd few hours here and there, but im a sahm and just want to join a few girlfriend on a trip this winter for like 5 days. I dont think its asking much. I can arrange for my parents to come here, but he doesn't want that. He won't take time off work because his work is too important. Or he thinks he's too important.
I don't know what to do. I feel like such a big part of what makes me happy has been taken away. I see so many of my friends and family members going on trips with their girlfriends and I cant because he says he'll charge me with child abandonment or some shit like that. I love my kids with my whole heart but I don't think I need to sacrifice something that is so important to me.
Im in Canada. Anyone else in a similar situation? Am I being selfish here?
