My 6y Male Poodle Killed a Rabbit

There’s been so many bunnies in our yard, eating the garden to the ground this year. There used to be one or two and my dog would chase them around, I’d laugh that he will never catch one. Now, there’s been 6 at a time sitting around when he’s not out and he actually caught one when I let him out. It escaped and went under our deck. I tried to get down there, even dug a bit just to see if it was okay and if I could help, absolutely no way to get down other than ripping apart deck.

Now I smell death. My sweet, gentle, overprotective poodle is a killer. I’m really worried and sad. Does he have the taste for blood now? What can I do to at this point to make sure he won’t kill again.

I’m so conflicted, my family bashed me for allowing him to kill a rabbit. I didn’t “allow” him. I just let him go in our backyard like I have for 5 years. The rabbits are out of control this year too. He just had better odds and I want to confess, secretly I’m proud of him. We do plan to move to a rural property in the next 8 months or so. Do we need to get him retrained? He’s never hurt anything before.

Can I still Plant Corn?

Rabbits ate all of my garden this year; I'm so bummed out. Every sunflower, every bean, every veggie, anything that was planted, anything that grew, even peppers.I would grow extra for them if I had room but I don't. And we have a dog that keeps them away, just not at 3am. I'm just so angry at all the corn just chomped. What can I still plant? Can I still do corn, pumpkin, zucchini, okra?

Heat Warnings

When and why do we get heat warnings ? Because right now it's 29c and it feels like 38c and I literally cannot be out to work on my garden. I went out for 5 minutes and I couldn't handle it. There is no heat warning in my area and tomorrow it is going to get worse. Still no heat warning.
