Bringing our aussiedoodle home in 2 days
New here but excited to be here!
In 2 days, we are driving 3 hours to bring our 10 week old aussiedoodle home. He is a F1- mom is 20lb blue Merle mini Aussie and dad is 10lb pardi toy poodle. We currently have an 8yo big dog (very calm and used to being with other dogs), a playful young cat, and 2 kids who are animal lovers so we are trying to prepare our home for our new family member.
This will be a dog that will hopefully love to accompany us to many soccer fields for practices and games. We have a nice backyard that we spend a lot of time in, a one income household currently as one adult works 3 days a week and the other is a stay at home parent back in college for another few years, so we have all the time to train and give attention to our new little guy.
I want to make sure we have everything we need to ensure a comfy transition for our entire household.
Here’s what we have: Toys (ropes, teething toys, balls, brain stimulating toys for treats) Puppy pads Crate & bed Brush (a dupe for that really expensive one lol) Training bites Dog bowls Puppy food Harness & leash Water bottle for on the go Bell for house training
I think that’s everything. Is there any other essentials you guys would recommend? Any advice? This dog will be crate trained, although our older dog is not/cannot be. I’m hoping this dog is not a huge shedder but our other dog is, so it wouldn’t make a difference on how often we have to clean lol. He looks more like a wavy Aussie coat as of right now, but I know his adult coat could be different. We definitely want a social, fun guy so we plan on doing all the things early on to make him used to people being around/touching/grooming him/going in public.
Any insight based on your own experiences are welcome!
