We are deciding between Bennie, and Wylie. I love Wylie, he loves Bennie. We flipped a coin and it landed on Bennie. Help me be okay with it!!!! He’s adorable

How old was your AD when they showed signs of the typical Aussiedoodle temperament. My mini Aussiedoodle is 13.5 weeks old and so far he is very mellow. He plays with my 1 year 9 month old Cavalier so well. The first few days I brought him home he was trying to hump, but my Cavalier is very type A and put him in check quickly (like a parent would do to their puppy.) My Cavalier has more of a Golden Retriever personality. He loves fetch and barks at any noise outside. My Aussie doodle just watches him like “why are you so loud dude.” Did I just get really lucky with his temperament or are all of the things I’m reading something that happened later? I’m watching carefully for herding behavior. He did bite at my Cavaliers ankles for a few days, but I corrected that behavior and he’s getting much better with it. He also knows when to stop. He’s been great with other people, children and other dogs as well.
This is how I found her yesterday morning. She's either protesting (sulking) because I went to her 10 min later than schedule, or she's building herself a dog house. Not sure yet which...
This guy makes most bones 3-4 minute bones. Does anyone have any recommendations for 3-4 day bones? lol. We found the “bagel bone” by pork chomps when Ziggy was a puppy and it lasts pretty decently. Has anyone found any other types or brands that can outlast these monster chewers?
My baby looks like a man!!! He’s only 9 months!!!! lol
New here but excited to be here!
In 2 days, we are driving 3 hours to bring our 10 week old aussiedoodle home. He is a F1- mom is 20lb blue Merle mini Aussie and dad is 10lb pardi toy poodle. We currently have an 8yo big dog (very calm and used to being with other dogs), a playful young cat, and 2 kids who are animal lovers so we are trying to prepare our home for our new family member.
This will be a dog that will hopefully love to accompany us to many soccer fields for practices and games. We have a nice backyard that we spend a lot of time in, a one income household currently as one adult works 3 days a week and the other is a stay at home parent back in college for another few years, so we have all the time to train and give attention to our new little guy.
I want to make sure we have everything we need to ensure a comfy transition for our entire household.
Here’s what we have: Toys (ropes, teething toys, balls, brain stimulating toys for treats) Puppy pads Crate & bed Brush (a dupe for that really expensive one lol) Training bites Dog bowls Puppy food Harness & leash Water bottle for on the go Bell for house training
I think that’s everything. Is there any other essentials you guys would recommend? Any advice? This dog will be crate trained, although our older dog is not/cannot be. I’m hoping this dog is not a huge shedder but our other dog is, so it wouldn’t make a difference on how often we have to clean lol. He looks more like a wavy Aussie coat as of right now, but I know his adult coat could be different. We definitely want a social, fun guy so we plan on doing all the things early on to make him used to people being around/touching/grooming him/going in public.
Any insight based on your own experiences are welcome!
We are picking up our sweet boy this weekend and the breeder wants to meet in a grocery store parking lot. Is this okay? Everything else has been great, communication, updated pics, etc but I feel like it’s weird to not see the home
This is the only puppy out of the litter that looked like this, and of course the last one. I must say it does look rather odd compared to the rest. Anyone have any experience with this and do you think the coat will balance out? There was another one that had a little silver white patching on the face like this one but not to this extent. Looks like a mix of possum, raccoon and panda.
Just got this little guy a week ago. He loves his monkey and demands to take it everywhere he goes.
I have a 10 month old daughter that is beginning to be mobile and very curious. My 8 year old Aussie doodle has never bit but does nip and has had episodes of being very protective per usual AD behavior. My worst fear in the world is having my dog bite any child especially my own so I am generally very adamant that the dog does not get close to the baby.
Tonight my dog had her paws up on the ottoman where my baby was standing and my daughter grabbed at some hair on my dogs leg. They started growling and snarling- I immediately went between them and called the dog off but I can’t stop thinking about what would have happened if I wasn’t there. My dogs have always coexisted in the home and don’t have definite boundaries on where they can or cannot go (they have always gone on couches and beds)
I don’t know what to do but it’s keeping me up at night. Do I need to get a play pen and absolutely keep them separate until my daughter can understand how to behave around the dogs? I’m curious what other Aussie doodle families experiences have been with small kids
So my 4 year old Toy poodle Australian Shepherd Mix suffers with having alone time / playing alone time and im running out of ideas on how to keep him occupied while I study. In the photo above I hid a Greenie in his bone and he spent one minute trying to get it out then started doing his playtime yip and giving me that look.
His normal activities in a day with me include 2-3 hours of walking split into 3 seperate walks. As well as 2 playtime sessions doing one of his three favorite activities, chasing a skateboard and biting it.. (yes he does this no clue why). Chasing a remote control car, tipping it over with his nose and nudging it back up while also barking at it, finally, playing with balloons. This dog is ADDICTED to balloons. He plays keepie upie, he could play it for hours, he also likes waterballoons. He often picks them up in his mouth too. Before anyone freaks out, he is closely monitored, spits out all balloon pieces and if any danglers are left we take them out of his mouth promptly. He has never swallowed balloon pieces before.
Now things I have tried doing include:
Sniff Matt's - little dude picks up the mat and shakes it out.
Lick matts - work for a solid 30 minutes i just dont want to feed him treats all the time to stay entertained
Raw hide bones - amazing.. only problem is he gets bored of them quickly. Ive hidden peanut butter in the creases and that extends playtime. (I know these are controversial but he has never swallowed one of the pieces and actually stops chewing them when they get small so we just throw them out. We've tried other bones for him but hes uninterested/ hacks from them)
Automatic dog ball- great idea works well only problem is that theyre extra loud and he has a tendancy to leave them outside and they get rained out. Lol.
Cat laser pointer - he loves them dont know why but he gets bored quickly.
Now he has about 60 stuffed animals / rubber balls that he adores which he will play with on his own for about q0 minutes before pawing at my arm, yipping, nudging me, throwing his toys at me with his mouth, or laying down on whatever im working on.
Now you might be wondering why I dont just get another dog. Well at my boyfeiends place he has dogs and cats that he adores but at my place he does not. Why not doggy daycare? He is afraid of people and dislikes when other dogs sniff his face for too long (nips when dogs dont get the hint that hes uncomfortable.) He also is not crater trained, as i dont like the idea of keeping him in small confined spaces, his "crate" is basically my room/ under my desk is where his hideout nest is located.
I swear hes a toddler in disguise. Any advice? Do i need to up the activities we do in a day? What toys have worked for yours?
