Sunflower Type Question

I reposted this from r/gardening to get some specific insight from this community

Zone 7A - NJ

This spring, I purchased and started a flat of sunflower seedlings. I’m pretty sure the packets we used were hybrid varieties.

I’m happy to report they are now super tall and thriving! I just had a question and was hoping someone can give me more insight as this is my first time growing them and I’m a bit ignorant of the science behind it.

Since they have bloomed, I have been pruning and deadheading to keep them from toppling over from the weight. We are puzzled because the first main sunflower blooms were all burnt orange with a tinge of yellow, however the stems that have been pruned are regrowing and budding in traditional sunflower yellow, not orange.

Is this due to the hybrid seeds?

Thanks for reading and answering in advance.

P.s. yes I’m stoked about the monarch!
