My first fruit from my Black Sapote (Diospyros nigra) tree. The variety Tahiti, the taste was smooth, thick and lush like creamy custard.

Anyone growing Jujubes in Oz??

I am looking to grow jujubes or Chinese red date (Ziziphus jujuba) in my back yard (here in the subtropics) and was wondering if any experience hands have some pro tips that might help.

I know my climate is not their preferred arid environ but I am looking at ones more tolerant to humidity. I know they can sucker badly, especially the older varieties.

But was wondering if anyone had any first had experience of growing them in Australia as much of the wisdom on you tube seems US based which is still useful, but any local wisdom appreciated.

Blue light bathroom?

Just today I went into the public bathroom inside Woolies (Maryborough Qld) and they have a blue lighting installed in there. I have not encountered this before. I suspect its to keep the drug injectors out or discourage them, would that be right??

But I have to say the 'strength' of the blue light was quiet disorientating, the floor and back wall were almost gloss black under this blue light and going out from that light back into the well lit supermarket and washing my hands with the soap were both just surreal!

First ever Ube Yam (Dioscorea alata) harvest today. Grew from a tiny bubil the size of a golf ball, took 12 months almost to the day. Tonight we roast!
