2mo. old Welwitschia mirabilis pushing roots out of 12" pot!

these little guys are digging!! Just a little over two months since I sowed em and they are pushing roots out of their 11 and 12.5" pots! I was a little worries about these little roots being more suceptible to damage (a broke one of them moving the pots) for watering today) but my understanding is they'll be ok if those get nipped a little.

They're putting out some nice growth on top too. How long do the cotelydons typically last? I've noticed some browning at the tips on some of them but not on their true leaves so figured it was fine.

Adenium obesum!

These are some of my 5 year old adeniums that I started from seed. This was my first run ever! I don’t use fancy pots, but I like a nice deep pot to accommodate a lot of growth.

Mislabeled Cyphostemma is just grabbed for a decent price. Tag says currorii, and I’m sure it’s not that. I’m leaning towards cirrhosum or quinatum. Anyone out there have any input?

I went to an amazing plant sale today!

I got to hit up an amazing plant sale today at Rare Plant Research in Oregon City, uh, Oregon, and brought home all these new babies! 😍

  1. Ipomea platensis
  2. Monadenium rubellium
  3. Scilla natatonsis
  4. Haemanthus humilis
  5. Haemanthus diformis
  6. Drimia robusta
  7. Tibouchina grandifolis
  8. Ah crap i missed this one
  9. Cissus tuberosa

I’d never heard of this nursery before this week and despite this astounding haul i spent almost $100 less than i thought i had, and could have easily spent 3x what I did. What an amazing day!

Back half pictures are of one of the parent tibouchina plants, and an amazing in-greenhouse bed of adenias and some other species.

Thanks for looking!

Cyphostemma lanigerum

You ever just buy plants simply because you’ve never heard of them? I’m obsessed with Cyphostemma so it was an easy call to pull the trigger on this species unbeknownst to me

Ornithogalum Sardienii

One of my favorite miniatures. You may notice it is starting to split! I’m very happy with the staging and feel like the plant is perfect for the pot. Hoping in a few years I’ll have a bunch! 🤞🏻

Welwitschia from seed 🤩

I am super excited to show my first success 🤩

About a month ago 1 got and planted 4 w. m. seeds, out of only 1 germinated, about 3 weeks ago, this is it now. Its planted in a sterilized 2p perlite 1p peat mix with some extra charcoal.

It was a lot smaller, now I can already see the new forever leaves forming in the middle, and the seedling itself has coloured nicely, also git a lot stronger already. As it is the only one so far that germinated I try to do everything 💯 to keep it happy; every week a systemic fungicide, watering every 1-2 days slightly, keeping it under a grow panel at around 20K LUX.

WISH ME LUCK! 🥰🙏

Just got a large Adenia fruticosa but curious about its care.

Im pretty new to this world of plants. Been hunting for ones with giant caudexs and stumbled upon this guy recently. I did some brief research on him and then bought him on the spot.

However, I did not realize that the sap of these guys is incredibly deadly and has given me a wave of anxiety. It’s been a good lesson to really research thoroughly before buying these things.

Any tips of care? Am I over worrying about it? How / when does the sap release. Also, is it okay to touch his leaves? Was thinking of repotting him soon but kind of scared to.
