The dark reason behind all of these eternal fortune petals in Orth we the saw at the end of season one

In season 2, there is a really strange scene where Reg sees many eternal fortune petals, along with name plates, falling down into the sixth layer.

It is customary in Orth to drop these petals along with the name of the deceased during funerals, and on one of the plates, we see that it's written about Sherumi's soul returning to the Abyss.

The falling of so many name plates means that many people have died on the surface. In the last scenes of season 1, we see so many eternal fortune petals everywhere in Orth, which again hints at many deaths.

You may ask what happened there.

Based on what we know, it is caused by the birthday death disease.

Nat tells Reg about it in season 1: people are dying on their birthdays for some reason, and if you look in the mirror on your birthday, your reflection will have a twisted neck.

We saw in season 1 that people have started dying from it, and Leader is trying to find a way to help them.

We see Kiyui is also sick from the same disease, and they move him to the caravan fleet to help him. Suddenly, we see that he is feeling good again.

This happened because they moved him out of the Abyss island.

This is really important.

From Star Strings and possible ending of Made in Abyss (from Akihito himself)

In an interview, Akihito himself talked about how he's going to end the story.

He said that it's not going to have a happy ending and that it will end in tragedy.

But he promised it would be a truly enriched and meaningful ending.

To understand what he's going to do, we need to look at another short story he has written:

From Star Strings.

I recommend you read it to understand what I'm talking about.

It's really short, and it shows Akihito's mindset pretty well.

*Spoilers for the From Star Strings lore ahead:

In that story, we also have a character with a longing for the unknown.

Her name is Kororu.

She finds herself alone on a small planet, and for many years she explores the whole planet, finding no one to make friends with.

But one day, she comes across a string hanging from the sky.

She shakes the string, and surprisingly, after some time, she sees the string move.

This makes her believe that someone on the other side of the string is trying to communicate with her.

She decides to climb the string, and she practices so she can reach its end.

But when she reaches the end, she finds herself on another planet with a really harsh environment, and no one is there to meet her.

She falls because of the gravity of the new planet and gets really hurt.

Then she realizes that it was the echo of her own signal that caused the string to vibrate back.

She becomes so disappointed and misses her own planet.

She learns to survive longer on the new planet, and once again finds another string and continues on her journey.

This is the ending of that story.

It is both really disappointing and open-ended, which makes me really scared of what he's going to write for Made in Abyss.

Did you know Bondrewd's Sparagmos is actually a greek term?

Sparagmos, the Essence-returning Light.

Sparagmos is a term from ancient Greek ritual and mythology.

It refers to the ritualistic tearing apart or dismemberment of a living being, usually by a group acting in a state of religious frenzy or ecstasy.

It is a processed Artifact of Unknown Grade.

It is a weapon that generates a mysterious blade of light. Things that it hits will disintegrate, without any exceptions.

It can only work for a short duration of time and generates a lot of heat.

It functions similarly to Reg's Incinerator, in that it possesses an unknown power capable of rewriting the rules of the Abyss.

Spoilers for the recent manga:

Srajo acknowledges that the source Artifact of Sparagmos did not exist in the 5th Layer and that Bondrewd only began using the relic after the appearance of "Girl-type" near Ido Front.

We've already theorized how this connects to the Girl-type in Episode 5 of the Overanalyzing series, so check it out!

Everything new we learn about Bondrewd after the anime:

In this post, I've gathered everything new we've learned about Bondrewd from the recent volumes, beyond what has been adapted into the anime so far.

Obviously, spoilers for the manga ahead. However, not much of what I'll say is directly related to the main plot of the new arc.

Bondrewd fought Srajo and Hail Hex before Riko and her group arrived at Ido Front. Because of this, Bondrewd lacked manpower, making it easier for Riko and her squad to defeat him.

After the fight with Hail Hex, he sends one of the top-ranking Umbra Hands, Remayo, after Hail Hex toward the Absolute Boundary. Remayo is a female Shroud.

Srajo claims that Meinya is the result of an experiment Bondrewd conducted to create Hollows by mixing a human fetus with something like an animal, or possibly the other way around.

Srajo also says that Bondrewd got his hands on Sparagmos around the same time the first sighting of the Girl-Type in the Fifth Layer was reported. So, he might have killed and disassembled the Girl-Type and acquired Sparagmos.

We also learn from Remayo that Bondrewd uses a method known as Roar Sign to connect with other Umbra Hands, and apparently, he has faced problems with straddling layers.

For more information about him, watch my Ultimate Breakdown of Bondrewd. I delve deep into how he embodies Kuu and Sacrifice, how the story portrays him as a religious scientist, and the deeper meaning behind it all.

Bondrewd's Armour, Canopy onto Dawn explained:

A processed Artifact of Unknown Grade. It is a custom-made full body armor specialized for Umbra Hand cave raiding and combat. A complex assembly made with Artifacts and bio-fibers, hiding a multitude of built-in weapons. However, the user remains unprotected against the strains of ascension and must take proper measures separately. The armor also includes devices to aid in the sharing of Bondrewd's consciousness.

The method is known as the roar sign. Check the first part of Overanalyzing of the third movie for more information.

https://youtu.be/j8bNgNHmrSU?si=bEyEKzRXuU7ATVoe

Gallice says that the person you're referring to isn't currently present, and that the method for straddling layers is prone to difficulties.

In Chapter 67, we learn from another Shroud that Bondrewd uses a method called the Roar Sign to connect with the Umbra Hands like a web, with each Hand acting as a node to transfer information.

Apparently, this method involves burning Eternal Fortune petals.

Gallice says he couldn't connect to Bondrewd because they were in different layers, and for some reason the method wasn't working.

It might be because Bondrewd was fighting Hail Hex around this point in the timeline.

I think this because something similar happens to another Shroud in the Sixth Layer, while at Ido Front Bondrewd is likely fighting Reg, who destroys many of his facilities.

Hope you like my theories!

It would mean a lot to me if you watch my videos on YouTube, unfortunately since I'm Iranian and we're sanctioned YouTube doesn't recommend me much

Your support would help me a lot in the current crisis we have here! Thanks

How Bondrewd’s Whistle Actually Works, Explained:

We know that in order to create a White Whistle, somebody must sacrifice themselves for you.

In the case of Bondrewd, something special happened.

He transferred his consciousness to the Soul-Slave Machine, Zoaholic, and then sacrificed his original body to create his whistle.

We know that Life Reverberating Stone is a relic that inherits the soul, so based on that, Bondrewd's soul is in his whistle.

Because of that, he cannot blow his whistle the usual way.

He clasps his hands around it to hold it in shadow, then strokes it to make it vibrate and produce its sound.

Akihito once said that his whistle is the light and the Umbra Hands are its shadow.

Umbra is actually the part of the shadow that is completely dark.

By hiding the true Bondrewd in darkness, it symbolizes that the other Bondrewds are just shadows.

The shape of his whistle is really important too.

In fact, it is not two opposite hands locking together, but both hands are the exact same hand locking onto itself.

This beautifully shows that something is wrong: the hands are not complementary. At the same time, it shows what he has done to create the whistle.

Who in the world is Mio?! Character Breakdown:

Mio is a really mysterious character.

She’s far too overdesigned to be a side character with so little screen time.

We first see her in the “How Are You? Somewhere” side story at the beginning of volume six.

*** Manga Spoilers Ahead ***

She’s a tourist coming from overseas, a member of the Caravan Fleet.

They are a group of sailors from another country who travel the world and sell rare items not usually found in Orth.

She first visited Orth seven years prior. She was in awe of how vast the Abyss was. While walking through town, she met 5-year-old Riko and her pet dog, Reg. Noticing how big Reg was, she privately wished for him to protect her.

During her second visit to Orth, seven years later, she again sees Riko and Reg, but is surprised to see Reg the boy. Finding amusement in this, she once again privately wishes for Reg to protect her, just as she did all those years ago.

The scenes we see here are an adaptation of the second side story named after her.

The side story is at the end of volume six.

We see the events prior to this: Auntie is asking Nat and Shiggy about Kiyui’s condition.

Mio overhears them talking, becomes interested in the Birthday Death Disease, and offers to help since she’s a pharmacist.

Nat and Shiggy bring her to the orphanage.

After they leave the shop, Auntie is amazed that after seven years Mio still looks the same and hasn’t aged.

She’s known as a master of anti-aging through unknown methods.

It’s really weird that something like this is mentioned about her in the story.

Maybe there’s much more to her that we don’t understand, and she might become an important character later on.

In the Doorbeetle Reports, we learn that she was originally designed as an important character from another story Akihito Tsukushi wanted to write: Gears Maiden.

Maybe this is why she looks so overdesigned in Made in Abyss.

Akihito has reused many characters he originally designed for other stories in Made in Abyss.

Even Leader originally came from Gears Maiden.

You can see more members of the Caravan Fleet in the Doorbeetle Reports.

Birthday Death Disease and how it actually works

At first, it really feels like Nat is messing with Reg just to scare him, but aside from that part about seeing yourself in a mirror, this strange phenomenon is real, and many people are dying on their birthdays in Orth.

In episode 12, we see Kiyui is sick on his birthday, but interestingly, when Leader takes him outside Orth Island, his symptoms immediately vanish like he was never ill at all.

*** Spoilers for the Manga ahead ***

As we see in the final scenes of season one, there are many Eternal Fortunes petals around Orth, symbolizing many deaths, and many people have evacuated the island.

To find a solution, Leader heads to the second layer to talk to Ozen.

We see their conversation in volume six.

Ozen explains that it’s probably the same phenomenon that caused the death of the Praying Skeletons.

She says if you can’t do anything about it, you just have to pray, right?!

Otherwise, you have to abandon the Abyss and run…

She says the Praying Skeletons were people who didn’t leave, and she understands them, since she doesn’t know any other way of living.

In episode 4 of season two, there is a scene where Reg sees many Eternal Fortunes petals falling from above, along with the names of the deceased.

This indicates that many people have died on the surface.

Surajo talks about this disease as well in chapter 67.

She says it’s called Breath in the Haryomari collection

the hidden curse that reaps lives,

the once-every-2000-years mass extinction event.

She also mentions the process is vulnerable to defective units, and those who are poorly formed may “take a breath.”

Birthday Death Disease is related to the soul.

In episode 12 Mio and Leader bring Kiyui to the caravan ship.

On the way, they talk about the Birthday Death Disease.

Leader says it’s truly absurd and strange, since some of the children in the orphanage didn’t even know their real birthdays, yet they still died on the day they chose for themselves.

The Abyss, through the soul, watches over everyone and shapes them.

It doesn’t just read minds, but something much deeper: the signals of one’s soul.

That’s what Majikaja says to Nanachi in season 2.

Nanachi asks, “Aren’t there people who truly believe their own lies?”

And he answers:

“If someone can fool themselves with their own words, then that is their truth, and it will soon become a signal of the soul.”

This is why, even though those children’s birthdays weren’t real, the fact that they truly believed in those dates caused them to become signals of their souls.

We’ll dive deeper into these ideas when we reach the chapter “Whereabouts of the Soul.”

After reaching the ship, we see that Kiyui is suddenly no longer sick.

This is because they moved him away from the Abyss island.

You may ask why this happened. Later, we learn that the Abyssal soul is only present on the island, and outside of it, it can no longer influence people.

Srajo says that when people from Orth leave the island, they feel like something is missing. The signals are no longer there.

Let's talk about "The Message"

I don't know why the spoiler flair is missing

But we're gonna have some spoilers for the manga

In the current arc Akihito has started to write netherglyphs next to particular chapters in the content pages

Till now we have 4 instances of these writings as you can see in the image

1: Seen / They are watching

2: Touch it

3: Change

4: Echo

The visual effect of these writings is the same effect of the message we've seen in chapter 73 so these are related maybe even these are the content of the message

The interesting thing is that in all these 4 particular chapters in the story we see Riko feels prickly by stinky hairs

I tried to match the writings with the section of the plot with this effect

For the first one it happens when Srajo is explaining the Haryomari Collections

Second one happens when Tepaste mentions Calamitous Writings

The third time happens when the change happens that set the bird in the cage free

The fourth one happens while Riko is exploring what the blue pendant is and those stinky hairs release the echo

The third and Fourth are obviously connected to the panels

The second one might suggest Riko that she should touch the calamities writings

And the first one I have no idea what it would mean

There is also an exception that happens in chapter 67

Srajo wants to explain an astonishing property of the soul but something happens and she doesn't tell us

We see those stinky hairs but in the content page there is no netherglyph writing for that chapter

Please tell me your theories and ideas about these writings

I also make analysing videos of made in abyss and recently made a video breaking down the new trailer of Awakening Mystery so check it out if you're interested

Meaning of the keyhole on Lyza's whistle theory

Lyza's whistle has the Crescent moon symbol, there is a depiction or flowers of fortitude on it well

But the main symbol we see in here whistle is the keyhole one

On the surface level it's because of doni, white whistles are made with the soul of another person who decides to sacrifice their life for you to continue on your journey

We know this from the ido front arc

Doni's character design is so fucking cool

He might have the best design among all the characters and white whistles

On a deeper level the symbol of keyhole is based on the doorbeetle symbol which is the one Akihito himself identifies himself with usually

I asked him what it means and he said: A bug that seems as if it were designed so that if you turned a “key,” its wings would open

yet in reality, there is no key, and even if there were, it has no wings to open.

A creature that spends its entire life in effort and struggle.

There are a few more places we see this symbol in the story

On Rikos cape brooch and regs backpack

I've explored the theories of all of season one in my channel and started doing the bondrewd movie
