Anyone know a great guitar player only for them to miraculously become terrible when they play your material?

I have a band and I’m the principal song writer. Unfortunately I am drumming and singing as there’s nobody else available. My friend who is a phenomenal player and seems excited to be there completely loses rhythm and can’t seem to get the songs dow well after everyone else has. Anyone have that experience? He can play really complex rich stuff but suddenly seems completely inept with my songs that are a bit weird but nothing crazy

any other drummers who are also lead singers in here? What is the best mic for this kind of thing?

So something with good off axis rejection I know is good but i thought also maybe it would be good to use a mic with some bleed sort of acting like a combo of drum overhead and vocal mic? or is that not gonna work like I think? looking at the beta 58A but if anyone has other suggestions I'd love to hear. plus really any advice on doing this in general as I am new to this and getting the hang of it but def not ready for our first show for another month or two. thanks!

Want to get Taylor 314 and currently play 214 would the wider neck make it harder to play?

My 214 is pretty comfortable. I want an American made all wood Taylor but the 314 has a wider neck and I’m worried it’ll be harder to play. It’s a concern because already have some hand and wrist issues. People who made that switch was it a noticeable difference or subtle enough I won’t notice really ?

Just got brandonwound noiseless jm pickups. So far not bad but not great in terms of them sounding like og jm pickups

They are quiet. But they sound very wooly and like kinda choked if that makes sense? Missing that high end chime. They sound good as pickups but I feel like they don’t sound super jazzmastery. I’m thinking about getting the SD silencer ones instead but I feel like this is just the compromise any noiseless jm pickup is gonna have. Anyone try both for comparison? Are the Seymour d ones brighter?
