Has anyone experienced this before?
Hello, I’m sharing my experience in the hope of finding people who can relate because I feel completely alone in this.
I’ve been experiencing ectopics beats for six years now. They started as a single thump or bang in the chest. Although there were times when they were really uncomfortable and scary and when I would have one almost every minute for several days, they eventually subsided and became less frequent.
But in 2023, I had the first episode of something that terrifies me. I was sitting and felt like my heart suddenly went into a chaotic/quivering/turning on itself rhythm for maybe 5 seconds, but it felt like an eternity. It didn’t feel fast or slow but out of rhythm and I remember thinking "this is it" and then it stopped. Since then, it has happened about 10 times, leaving me shaken each time. I can’t get used to it, can’t ignore it, as it literally makes me jump out of my seat and fear it won’t stop and go back to normal rhythm. I have experienced ectopics beats and what I think is run of them but this feels different.
I’ve been to the cardiologist multiple times, had echos, ECG’s, holters and a nuclear stress test and have been told my heart is fine. I saw my cardiologist again yesterday and will wear a holter again soon but I worry it will never be caught as it happens infrequently. He also recommended that I wear a smartwatch to try to record it.
Has anyone experienced this, had it recorded and figured out what it was? I live in fear of it happening again and it’s exhausting. I’m even scared of going out. Pretty much the only peace I get is when I sleep.
Thank you to anyone who read that.
