My venue requires a bartender, can I ask a (licensed bartender) friend to do it for $50/hr and cover the insurance cost or is that insane?

With our friend "bartending" (cutting off people who are too drunk, and keeping the beer/wine stock refilled), our budget is at 31k.

If we hire an outside service, (even if we provide the alcohol!), we're looking at a bump up to 33-34k. Bartender services here are stupidly expensive.

However, do you think the risk is too high by just having a friend do it?

struggling to justify the bill I received. $243.49, and we didn't use the AC or heater at ALL. I don't know how to keep the bill down. I live in a 2bd 2ba apartment.
