Bowling alley

Hey Ukiah! A bowling alley at the Rite aid spot is ideal! Down the road from the movie theater, the co op, Safeway, restaurants, art centers, this is good city planning even though it’s unintentional. Let’s base planning on fun and making space to hang around where even more folks wanna visit. Thanks Ukiah! Good job.

Cloverdale Esmeralda

Yesterday the chronicle ran a story about Esmeralda. A new development backed by someone who has grown up in a very different environment from Cloverdale and seems really detached from the town. Hosting a pop up in Healdsburg instead of Cloverdale feels totally disengaged. Will cloverdale get the tax revenue? Why does Cloverdale city think it’ll boost Cloverdale? The houses are projected to cost between $600,000 and 4 million, can we fill the empty spaces in downtown Cloverdale before we build new ticky tacky stucco buildings? Can we spend money on Cloverdale first? Pardon my lack of expressiveness but it just feels like rich kid narcissism and nothing to do with enriching existing communities.

Today the chronicle ran another article about a guy who is from west marin, made money, and came back to west Marin to buy and renovate the local buildings already there, with a focus on local enrichment.

Interesting comparison to what folks do with their money.

What’s the temperature on these projects?
