Pristiq for GAD and panic attacks

Hi everybody,

After a recent particular rough patch with my mental health which resulted in suicidal thoughts and panic attacks, my GP prescribed me Pristiq. The main reasons were:

  1. I've had various SSRIs in the past and although they were beneficial for depression, nothing really alleviated anxiety.
  2. SSRI side effects were impacting my life too much. Massive weight gain despite exercising and dieting and after a while, a general feeling of numbness. I wasn't anxious but that's because I wasn't feeling anything at all!
  3. Because of my ADHD diagnosis as well, it could be a test to see how it reacts to this new medication.

I've been doing a lot of reading as one does when prescribed a new medication and a general consensus is that although it's not formally recognised as treating anxiety, there are instances of it helping.

Does anyone have any success stories of Pristiq being useful for their anxiety?

Hiring when you're looking elsewhere

Has anyone had the situation in which they've been asked to hire staff members to report into them, but they're looking elsewhere for work?

The botique consultancy I'm working for is going through a restructure (redundancies as well as new roles). A new CEO started six months ago and, to put it bluntly, is psychopathic and probably the worst manager I've worked for. Hence why I've started looking elsewhere.

As we know the job market is cooked so it's taking longer than I would have liked to find a new role. But while looking, I still need to hire staff.

How would you grapple with the situation of bringing a new staff member into this environment, knowing in the back of your mind you're already half way out the door?
