im a complete noob to the big three

ive only just discovered spacebattles, sufficient velocity and questionable questing. these are apparently very popular sites.

ArcaneCadence posts to two of the forums. Thats a lot of work. Is it like some sort of strat? Should authors post there?

Just dont know jack shit about these sites. Whats their deal? Worth?

Advice from a reader

if you want to get popular quick, look at new life as a max level archmage. Then skip to chapter 30 or 31.

Yeah I wish the book was more like that for the whole 150 chapters Ive read.

We, the readers, need more action. gratification is what we want.

ill happily swallow down any subpar story as long as theres action. i need that pew pew pew.

And I really mean action. Not just explosions happening around MC. No, I want MC battles an opponent.

Sounds like such basic simple advice right? Yet i dont see new authors doing this. They'd rather flex their 'this story is a slow burn'. slow burn my ass, i know what you're doing. You're padding out word count instead of delivering.

160k views in a month. 2k followers. This is how you do a proper book cover, blurb plus title.

The archmage's second life as an introvert. On rising stars rn.

As a reader, I clicked it immediately. No more boring generic covers thank goodness.

Most of you guys have covers that are so generic and dull that I'm not sure why you'd ever pick that even though you're using AI. Like if you're going to use AI, there surely has to be better pics to choose.

I am a cover cuck. I will bow down to the cover. There's just too many stories out there that I judge solely on the cover of the story.

I mean look at gunwitch's cover. Arcane's cover. Sect leader's cover. Clara Casewell's cover. Looping moronmagus cover.

sigh okay fine lemme go find the covers so u know what i mean. There, added.

You see what I mean? Then I go browse other stories and the covers are complete dogshit. Some of the stories are good when I go check them out but most i just ignore cus of the cover. And that's not your fault. You're not an artist, you're a writer.

But yeah, Im a cover cuck. And I'm not the only reader that is.

It's tagged as such. Says It's been edited and proofread by AI, so I don't know how much the author actually wrote themselves.

I don't know what to feel. The reviews are all praising the writing and even I admit I like it.

I never expected to care that much about AI, but I just kind of feel... weird.

Seems pretty lax. Ive seen some stories have full on sex scenes.

Or am I mistaken and it's just that mods hadn't caught up?

As a reader, I see a large amount of writers expressing disatisfaction at the lack of viewership or growth for their stories. But these posts have a subtle implication underneath: that their stories deserved more viewership.

I wouldn't disagree. I do see a lot of 'not-mid' stories from new authors. But I am curious about if an author writes truly excellent fiction, would they still struggle to gain popularity due to the current ecosystem? Assuming the bare minimum amount of marketing prostration and circle jerking, which is how I see it as a reader lol.

In other words, please recommend me underrated books with poor view counts that you consider are peak stories

Will add more. Edit: after reading more I can confirm the above was the only hidden gem I found so far. Seriously check it out.
