Going back to an IC job from a leadership position

Hi I am curious if anyone has positive stories of going back to an individual contributor job from a leadership position. I’m in a team lead job right now and I am about to accept an offer for a senior engineer position. The comp is almost equivalent. I know this is the right decision and I’m really excited about the senior engineer role but I can’t help but feel like I’m “giving up” in my leadership journey. I just had another baby this year though and I can’t commit to any further leadership roles that require more time.

YA novels that most influenced you as a teen / early college student

I was thinking about some book recs for a friends 18 year old daughter and of course John’s books came to mind. I’m a younger millennial, I think the fault in our stars was probably the most influential of his books for me. Outside of his books, I had thought about Marcus Zusak’s novels as well as being influential in my life.

How about you all? Or any books you’d recommend to an 18 year old today?

When to drop the Jacky…

We moved baby girl to the Jacky at 3 months and she has loved it! Shes almost 6 months old now and she has learned to undo the Velcro and likes to suck on the fabric. I assume this is not safe… I ordered a couple long sleeve sleep sacks but in the interim has anyone tried putting the sleep sack over the Jacky instead of under? 😬

When to increase bottle nipple size?

Hi all! My baby is 5 months old and she has never been a huge milk drinker. She drinks now about 24oz a day, sometimes a bit more, 5-6 bottles during the day and a dream feed. We feed her pretty frequently but we are trying to get her to 3 naps so some of her feedings are stretching out. She seems like, just not that hungry for some bottles and getting her to take more than 2-3oz at a time is a struggle when she isn’t wanting the bottle. At 2 months old, I tried increasing the nipple size on her bottle from the lansinoh XS to the S, and she hated it and went through a bit of a bottle aversion. We went back to the XS and still try to do low pressure feeds.

However now she is 5 months and I feel like maybe we should try increasing the size again. When she is definitely hungry, she takes a bottle pretty quick though with the XS! Like 10 minutes. But sometimes she seems like sort of hungry but not ravenous, and it takes much longer if she finishes it at all.

How do you know when to try increasing? Should we just try it and see and if she does an aversion again, go back to the XS?
