Unlimited money, but you are permanently high on 10mg of Klonopin (Clonazepam) for the rest of your life. Do you take the deal?

A mysterious entity approaches you with a blank check. You get access to infinite, tax free money for the rest of your natural life. You can buy a fleet of supercars, a private island, fuck any chick, or fix world hunger, literally whatever you want.

But there is a catch. Your brain is magically and permanently set to the baseline state of someone who just took five 2mg K-pins, meaning 10mg of Clonazepam total.

Here is how your new reality works. Your anxiety is practically annihilated. Social anxiety, existential dread, and the fear of making a bad investment are almost entirely erased from your nervous system. You might get a tiny, distant flicker of worry once in a blue moon, but mostly you just exist in a state of unbreakable, sloppy chill.

You also have near zero filter. Whatever impulse enters your head, you will probably just say or do it without second guessing yourself.

The biggest issue is the delusion of sobriety. Unlike alcohol or weed or tina where you know you are messed up, benzos give you a massive delusion of complete sobriety. You will firmly and genuinely believe you are operating at peak mental clarity and are completely sharp, even while you are noticeably acting high and impulse buying a casino at 3 AM.

Your memory will be a blur too. You probably will not have full amnesiac blackouts where you wake up in another country with no idea who you are, but your long term memory formation will be completely cooked. Life will just feel like a hazy sequence of side quests.

The fine print of the deal is that no actual pills are required. You do not have to swallow anything or deal with pharmacies because the neurochemical effect is magically fixed in your brain. You also never build a tolerance, so the high will never dull or fade. Day one and day ten thousand feel exactly the same. You will never suffer from withdrawal, rebound anxiety, or seizures because the state is permanent. Physically, you are safe. You will not accidentally stop breathing from the dose itself (even if you mix it with alcohol, for sake of eliminating obvious "drink and die" scenario) and your vital signs will remain stable. You won't develop long-term effects of benzodiazepine use disorder like slow, steady debilitation. You won't feel sleepy, tired. Your coordination, reaction time, and decision making skills, however, are permanently impaired because you are just high on 10 mg Clonazepam.

So you are rolling through life with unlimited funds, practically zero fear, no filter, a fuzzy memory, and the unshakeable conviction that you are the most sober and logical person in every room you walk into.

Are you taking the deal, or passing?

Honestly, how is this explained?

I'm asking because this is something that always boggled my mind.

You think of Em and Dre's musical partnership, and you can immediately point to Guilty Conscience or FAD;

You think of that of Em and 50, and there's Impatiently Waiting, Gatman/Robbin, pretty sure I'm missing some more;

Hell, you think Em and Royce, you have entire BME.

Now, coming to the musical companionship of Em and Proof, which was the most organic one of all, and you have no major standalone full-blown Em x Proof track.

Make no mistake, I know both D12 albums obviously lmao, and Proof had his thang on Em's trifecta couple times, but never non-D12 way. Yeah, crazy freestyles, whole D12 had their own lane but that's not what I mean. This still just seems so awkward to me.

Having to hear your neighbors beefing endlessly is one of the greatest joys of the human condition

Alright so listen. I live in an apartment and my neighbors across couple walls or whatever the fuck are just constantly going at it. Like full on rage sessions, yelling, doors slamming, the whole theatrical production that never ends. And I am sitting here thinking this is peak existence. I cannot wrap my head around people who not only don’t fuck with this but act like it’s some deep personal violation. You couldn’t dream up a better soundtrack if you tried.

Reddit is mostly American so half of y’all probably have never even known what real apartment neighbor proximity feels like. You got your little suburban houses with actual distance and quiet and it’s boring as shit. Meanwhile I’m over here with front row seats to pure chaos every single night and I am thriving.

Bonus points if it’s a man and a woman going at each other instead of two guys or two girls. Something about the male-female dynamic just cuts it different when the volume is turned all the way up. I don’t make the rules, but, you know, contrast in voice is lowkey a key here.

My favorite drug these people are on is alcohol. The way the arguments just loop and escalate and then suddenly somebody is crying and then they’re yelling again is the dynamite. But I deeply covet the people who have methheads for loud neighbors because I can only imagine how much funnier that version is. The energy has to be next level, han't it?

I listen with a keen ear. Like genuinely. I compare the magnitude of the rage from different days. Which day takes the cake. Who is winning the argument on this particular night. Is he louder today or is she landing more hits. I keep mental scoreboards. It’s better than any reality show or Got Talents because it’s unscripted and right there through the drywall.

Sometimes it helps with the loneliness too. Kind of like how grandmaster Andrew Tang used to leave that annoying “rook takes on b3” Slavic commentator on during his streams just to kill the silence during high pressure bullet games. Same energy here when you think about it.

And look, I have no true malice or anything like that. Let em live for 300 years like ravens and all that. But subconsciously I’m just waiting for one of them to finally lose it and actually slay the other one. That’s what keeps the party going for me. The tension of it and the possibility hanging in the air every night.

But if it ever actually happened and the noise stopped for good I’d be sad as hell like withdrawal. Like when Breaking Bad ended and you just sit there staring at the wall because the thing that was filling your brain; I would miss them.

On top of all that it makes me realize how safe I am. Okay I got my problems right? But at least I got no family member abusing me daily. There’s something deeply deeply wrong with people who just beef like that all the time and it makes me feel normal as hell in comparison. You know that meme with two European aristocrat noblemen standing on a balcony looking down on everyone condescendingly? That’s exactly the undertones.

And no my parents when I was coming up was nothing like this so it’s not some deep Freudian call of bringing it back in the psyche. I’m just petty and I love the beef.

Diddy ad-libbing and talking all over Biggie tracks actually made them better

Obligatory disclaimer upfront: I am strictly talking about musical arrangements and record production here. This is not me defending him as a person or ignoring any of his personal actions/charges. Strictly separating the music from the man for a second.

Everyone in the hip-hop community loves to roast Puff for dancing in shiny suits, talking over intros, and yelling "take that, take that" across Ready to Die and Life After Death. The consensus on Reddit and YouTube is always that he was an annoying coat-tail rider who wouldn't shut up and let Biggie rap.

I honestly think that's a bad take. From a pure record-making standpoint, Puff’s presence on those tracks was essential.

First off, it was all about the contrast. Biggie’s flow was super laid-back, heavy, and effortless. He let the weight of his voice do the work; he didn't yell. Diddy was the chaotic, high-strung counterweight to that. Biggie drops a cold line, and Puff gives you the theatrical reaction you’re feeling as a listener. It gives the songs a dynamic they wouldn't have if Biggie was just rapping over a bare instrumental.

Second, it made the records feel cinematic. Go listen to the intro to "Who Shot Ya?" and tell me Puff talking shit before the beat drops is just fillers. It builds tension and sets an atmosphere. It made those tracks feel like a live moment or a movie scene rather than just a standard studio recording. Long Kiss Goodnight is my favorite example of this.

And lastly, the guy just knew how to arrangement-wise pace a song. He wasn't just randomly barking into the mic. His ad-libs were placed specifically to bridge transitions, cue the hook, or build up a drop. It's hype-man mechanics, but done at an executive level.

Biggie had the pen and the raw authority, obviously. But Diddy brought the stadium-status showmanship that turned classic rap songs into massive cultural anthems. Strip Puff’s vocals off those masters and a lot of those tracks lose half their energy.
