I don't feel bad for the male liberal influencers who are now being 'falsely' accused of rape

There's been a string of male liberal influencers online who have been accused of rape and other sexual misconduct recently. The veracity of the accusations against them varies, but frankly, I don't feel bad for them even if the accusations were all false. These are the same people who would gleefully weaponize the same accusations if they were made against someone else they don't like. They may even put on a performance about believing all accusers, but somehow, it doesn't apply when the accusations are made against them. I think it's only fair if they're treated as if they did what they're accused of doing.

Humans are not social animals

Since the line "humans are social animals" is stated about the human race as a whole, I can confidently say it doesn't apply to me. If there are genuine exceptions to a statement, then the statement can't literally apply universally. That's why I think the wording is technically wrong if it's meant to imply that every single human is inherently social.

I have essentially no desire to maintain contact with other people unless it's absolutely necessary. If I had food, water, shelter, healthcare and everything else I needed to survive, I would be perfectly happy spending the rest of my life alone. I don't have friends, and I don't particularly want any. I don't want a romantic relationship either. None of this comes from hatred or some traumatic experience. I genuinely prefer being alone.

Obviously, I understand that humans are dependent on other humans in practical ways. I couldn't manufacture everything I need to survive, and if I were seriously ill, I'd need a doctor. I'd also need other people to provide many of the services and infrastructure that modern life depends on. But I don't think practical dependence is the same thing as having an innate desire for social interaction.

What I find strange is how quickly people assume that someone who doesn't want friends must secretly be lonely or unhappy. Why can't someone simply have a very low desire for social interaction? If someone genuinely enjoys solitude, why should that automatically be treated as a problem that needs fixing?

I realise I'm obviously interacting with other people by making this post, but that's not really what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the desire for social interaction itself. So I think the more accurate statement would be "most humans are social animals." That leaves room for people like me who genuinely have little to no desire for friendship, romance or regular social interaction.

there are no excuses for using chat gpt: there is nothing good about it

LITERALLY NOTHING.

i hate how everyone is looking at this with rose tinted glasses!!! im sick of people calling chat gpt their “friend” or acting like it’s helping them. i’m dead serious: that is psychosis. you are trying to justify a relationship that DOESNT EXIST.

genuinely, i don’t understand WHY people still use it!!! it’s no secret the impact it has on the world, and it’s been PROVEN to be impacting cognitive development!!!!

i’m sorry, but i don’t care if chatgpt is the only thing that listens to you, ITS NOT REAL. there are hundreds of thousands of people on this sub ALONE that WILL LISTEN!!!

i don’t care if i look stupid in ten years, WHY IS NOBODY ELSE MAD ABOUT THIS??

Optimization culture makes us miss out on life

I know that always striving to do more in the gym and look better and eat healthier and have the newest and best things can be a good thing, but- I believe it also went too far in our culture to the point where everyone is no longer living but is instead focused on how they look or what they wear or how much money they can make. Its not living if you never feel alive.

Going to the gym sucks.

It’s gross in there. It’s full of unwashed bodies and every flavor of body odor melting together. Everything is greasy or sticky even though people wipe it down. Hardly anyone actually cleans things properly so the sticky spray just builds up with germs and body grease.

It’s the same atmosphere as the office except worse and you pay to go there. Working out on gym equipment is boring. It’s like being a rat on a wheel. Except rats don’t like wheels, they’re too intelligent to stay engaged on them. Only very simple animals enjoy exercising this way.

When I walk to work in the morning on a beautiful summer day there are always people lined up to go hang out inside the dark, smelly gym and it just feels so sad. Why would anyone want to get up early to exercise inside when the birds are singing and the sun is turning the streets gold?

Then you have the creepy guys who think they’re God’s gift to women because they can’t walk without looking like something is stuck up their asshole and harass everyone. Then you have those bored older ladies that walk around and police everyone at the gym like they can’t get a paid job and have to invent one at the gym. The social atmosphere of the gym sucks. “Well you just have to get up at 4am/increase your income to go to the bougie gym/work out harder so you’re ripped enough to hang out with the cool guys/etc” every argument for the social atmosphere not sucking is an attestation to how much it sucks.

People don’t keep up on going to the gym because it sucks, and it’s presented to us as the only way to exercise as if humans didn’t exist and stay fit for thousands of years without the gym.

If you like going to the gym, good for you. But people who don’t aren’t inherently lazy or lacking in fitness. There are plenty of other ways to exercise that don’t involve being in a sweaty box with several dozen other people’s germs and body odors.

And going to the gym doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to do other forms of exercise successfully. I’ve hiked with gym bros and they usually putz out quickly. They don’t have the endurance and flexibility to do a 20+ mile day. They haven’t learned how to cope with the self deprivation aspect of it. Their feet are soft and get sore easily. Their egos get in the way of it all.

Because going to the gym is often performative. They have to tell everyone about the gym all the time and act like they’re ready to conquer anything because they lift things up and put them down and engage in watered down artificial boring versions of just going outside and doing something fun.

People who want to start exercising every day should consider alternatives to going to the gym if health is the actual goal and not just a body that looks like it goes to the gym. A used beginner kayak costs the same as 2 months of gym membership and can be used for many years. Same with a bicycle, snow shoes, running shoes, yoga classes, casual sports clubs, and most other sporting gear.

People would exercise more if they were encouraged to do something more fun than going to the gym. Exercising shouldn’t be to show off how early you can wake up or a chore you do just to stay in shape. It should be something you look forward to and enjoy doing, because that’s what makes you do it every day.

Trans women should ABSOLUTELY be allowed to compete in women's sports, and transphobes exaggerate the issue to demonize trans people as a whole

I understand the biological concerns, all about transgender women who have undergone puberty being biologically stronger and faster than cisgender women. However, that's a solvable issue that's possible to remedy.

First of all,a trans athlete should be able to present medical evidence that they have been in gender affirming care and has been medically transitioning for at least 4 years. This prevents cis men from self identifying as trans and faking a transition to take advantage of the policy.

We live in an age of science, programming and machine learning. If we can account for the height of prostheses,or the microfiber in a swimsuit to ensure it doesn't give a swimmer an unfair advantage ,or the height and energy return of a running shoe,we can DEFINITELY account for the advantage a trans woman has due to male puberty,by adequately penalizing the athlete e.g.adding 5 seconds to their completed 100m sprint.(My point: SPORTS CAN AND SHOULD ADAPT WITH THE HELP OF TECHNOLOGY TO ACCOMMODATE TRANS ATHLETES)

By adequately penalizing trans athletes to reflect this advantage and having constants that account for muscle mass, bone density and limb height;we can certainly allow them to compete. And besides, the nature of sports is inherently unfair. There are cis women who have greater lung capacity and heart size e.t.c. and no one complains about them.

Transphobic people and conservatives blow the issue out of proportion just to open fire on not only trans women, but women in general due to patriarchal values and misogyny, because:

(1)It's easy ammo against the transgender community, and it unfairly pits trans women against cis women

(2) Women's sports are a male dominated field. While the players are women, the coaches, trainers and referees are mostly men.The biggest problems women in sports face isn't trans athletes,it's sexual abuse and assault from male coaches.

(3)From 3,if people really cared about women's sports, they would be pushing for punishment of men who sexually assault women in sports, not punishing a group that barely participates to do the lip service of "helping women".

(3)Fewer than 10 trans women compete in a year's worth of sports,so not that many trans athletes are playing in the first place.

I don't understand why some unattractive men complain about not getting laid.

If you're unattractive then you'll have to compensate in other ways. Like you need to make a lot of money or be a good person. Women don't care much about looks. If you have a good personality then you can get a gf or wife. Especially when they're past a certain age and is ready the settle down. If you're ugly on the inside and on the outside then no wonder why you can't get laid.

I like the smell of someone microwaving fish.

Maybe it’s growing up near the ocean and being nostalgic, but generally I just like the smell and really don’t see why others can’t stand it.

All statues of people should be put in a storage unit somewhere, and kept there until people vote to put them each individually back up.

I'd rather see an animal or something abstract. if it's just "a statue of a guy" number one, that's boring and number two I have no idea how I feel about the person. if it's a guy on a horse take the guy off and leave the horse.

Jerry Seinfeld and Julia Louis-Dreyfus are genuinely soulless evil human beings who are more interested in a dollar sign than human life

they are both massive Israel simps and still at the age of 72 and 65 still do culture war nonsense did you see Julia getting those earrings for the Kamala campaign a few years ago it was rightfully addressed as out of touch behaviour from a egotistical 63 year old who was high on her own supply

also Julia publicly defended Jerry and supported him dating a 17 year old in a 1998 editorial piece

u/[deleted] — 1 day ago

"Preference" in dating is almost always just socially acceptable bigotry that people rebrand to avoid feeling like a bad person.

The moment someone insists that an entire demographic category (whether defined by height, race, trans status, body type, etc) is an absolute, non-negotiable "dealbreaker" regardless of the individual, they aren't describing a taste or a preference. They are describing a learned prejudice. True physical attraction is contextual and dynamic, but society lets people hide behind the phrase "it's just my preference" because admitting that our desires are heavily conditioned by systemic biases makes everyone uncomfortable.

Avocado toast is one of the cheapest and GOAT breakfasts

Well if millenials would stop buying avocado toast they could afford[...]

BULLSHIT.

Avocado toast is cheap. Even if you're eating out, it's going to be one of your cheapest options.

It's nutritionally S-tier: high in fibre, high in good fats, Vitamin K, folates.

Requires no dishes, minimal preparation. Cut an avocado, toast bread. You're set. Eat it on the go.

High fiber and fats - this will keep you sated for a while.

Who are its competitors in contemporary [American] breakfast? Cereal? Eggs? Please.

All the hate on avocado toast is from boomers who have never eaten it in their life and are scared of anything new.

Friendship is one of the most overrated parts of life, and I think people massively overstate how much you actually need it.

We're constantly told that humans are social creatures and that friendship is essential for happiness, but I don't think that applies equally to everyone. Some people genuinely don't enjoy talking to people, don't enjoy socialising and don't feel some giant hole in their life because they aren't constantly surrounded by friends. I think society has a hard time accepting that because having a busy social life is treated almost like proof that you're doing well.

What I find even stranger is how quickly people diagnose loneliness when someone says they have no friends. “You must be lonely” gets thrown around as if it's an objective fact. But being alone isn't the same as being lonely. If I can spend days by myself and genuinely enjoy it, why should someone else insist that I'm secretly miserable?

I also think a lot of friendships survive because people are afraid of being alone rather than because the relationship is particularly meaningful. People make plans they don't really want to attend, constantly message each other, spend money going out and maintain relationships out of habit because having nobody around feels worse to them. I'd rather have nobody than maintain a friendship I don't actually value.

Obviously, friendship can be amazing for people who genuinely want it. I'm not arguing that nobody should have friends. I'm arguing that we've taken something most people enjoy and turned it into a supposed human requirement. I think a person can have a completely fulfilling life without friendship if solitude genuinely suits them.

Maybe the most unpopular part is this: I don't think having no friends is inherently sad, tragic or something that needs fixing. Sometimes having nobody around isn't a problem. Sometimes it's exactly what someone wants.

Movies like Interstellar and Project Hail Mary are just science slop: movies people watch to feel smart

“Science-slop” is a term I came up with to describe movies that people watch to feel smart and scientific. They’re incredibly boring sci fi movies that pretend to be profound and realistic but are really no different than a fantasy movie. They use big words that the average person can’t understand to seem like they adhere to the laws of science, but then take huge fantastical liberties that completely undermine the whole hard sci fi genre they try so desperately to fit into. Like in interstellar where cooper literally messes with his bookshelf in the past, or in PHM where the rock alien (wow! So realistic! A moving rock!) has some magical super strong epoxy that’s literally solid xenon (so realistic!). It just makes anyone with an ounce of scientific knowledge roll their eyes so much that they might as well become wheels.

It’s why I find it so cringy when someone tells me that one of these movies is there favorite movie. You can just tell that they don’t understand a lick of science, and just want to seem smart and intelligent. Like wow, you saw a dude in a ship powered by black goopy cells that also happen to be the entire problem of the movie meet a moving talking rock and thought “wow science! I wanna be just like him!” Like tbh they’re so far off the mark I don’t even know where to begin with them. If you put these people in a physics class, which they claim to love (Wow cooper saves the universe with relativity!), they’d be asleep in seconds.

If you wanna get into actual hard sci fi there are so many good shows/movies you could get into. Don’t buy into science slop and watch an actual realistic movie if that’s what you’re looking for.

Disclaimer: I’m not saying every movie has to be realistic. There’s nothing wrong with unrealistic fantasy movies, but trying to pass off fantasy as hard sci fi is where I have a problem.

Marvel fans are the worst fandom ever.

As someone who's been in a ton of fandoms, dear fucking god the marvel fandom is GARBAGE. They are actually the most nitpicky, homophobic, racist people I have ever been around. I have been trying so hard to get into marvel for the past 5 years and everytime I've liked a movie i'll go online and it's just a hate fest over and over. Don't get me wrong, there are other fandoms that suck. I've been in the Voltron fandom, the Dream smp fandom, early SU fandom. Hell, i'd rather go back to being in 2021 minecraft twitter space for the rest of time then be around marvel fans.

This isnt me hating (mostly) but genuinely it's getting to a point where it's making it easier for me to never touch a Marvel project again. I was hella excited for the x-men movie but no matter what platform i'm on it's just dogpiling on it and hating the actors for no good reason. Now I don't even wanna save up money to go see it in theatres. I genuinely think directors are seeing marvel fans complain and editing their scripts to appease them which of course doesnt work because they hate anyways. It's so annoying.

A majority of adults are really just out of control children in grown up bodies

It makes sense when you see the state of the world and how much cruelty and chaos runs rampant on planet earth. So many people are emotionally unintelligent and suffer from arrested development. I believe if we valued emotional intelligence more over mathematical intelligence in school, it honestly wouldn't be as big of an issue. That is my opinion.

Edit: Maybe not a majority, but a big amount.

Demonising childbirth/pregnancy has gone too far

I definitely agree that women should be able to do what they want when pregnant and abortion should be easily accessible.

However, i think in the past few years, it has become too normal (esp online) to regard pregnancy and childbirth as disgusting

Calling pregnancy "body horror" or emphasising how gross you find it to others is just demonising womens anatomy and biology.

I do believe that SOME pro choicers have gone too far in accepting or even promoting abortion but turning their nose up at people who want to have children. Being pro choice means that whatever the person chooses should be supported.

I understand never wanting to be pregnant, because same, but i think going online and shaming women or calling something so natural, beautiful, and a big part of womanhood, disgusting ,isn't feminist.

Honestly, i think if a man said the same things about how gross and weird it is, these people would come at him and realise its wrong.

They make claims without evidence then call it "critical thinking".

Short men should always keep a low profile.

A short man won't be taken seriously by fellow men because he's short and isn't scary and women wouldn't like him because he's small.

So for this reason a short man should always understand this and try to keep a low profile. I've seen women say that short men try to compensate for the lack of their size by being a bit more agressive or confident and that they think it's pathetic. And that they hit the gym and become too mascular making them look shorter.

Small = submissive and big = dominant. That's how that world works. A small guy cannot become dominant so it's best for him to keep a low profile and know his place.
