The way the system treats suicidal people is inhumane

I don't understand why every time someone reaches out for having suicidal thoughts, people's first advice is to give away their freedom and be isolated in a hospital with rude staff and be forcefully medicated with harmful medicine instead of giving them a community or a job or a solution to their problems or even I know that religion is problematic, but even sending them towards religious institutions is better. Also, I don't like it when people say that suicidal people are just sick when really they don't see any way out of their problems, and suicidal thoughts can't just be medicated away.

We don’t actually need that much censorship or online moderation; it’s just that an aggressive group of chronically online incels dominate every online space and ruin it for everyone else

I get really annoyed when people try to hype a guy to me and use height as a selling point.

I’m female and people are always recommending me guys and saying things like “he’s tall👀” like bitch I don’t care. People saying that instantly annoys me because to me it’s like people saying “he has freckles👀” like it’s not on the docket of things I’m looking for, height doesn’t contribute to attractiveness nearly as much as features and proportions and frickin personality, why are you trying to sell him with that, stop. It feels more shallow even than caring about someone’s looks because it feels like you’re just caring about a number.

Also if anything, being short is a bigger selling point to me because I’m short so I feel on more equal ground when I talk to short people.

People who say things like "I'm not reading allat" are just proud of being ignorant.

People who say things like "I’m not reading allat" are just proud of being ignorant.

You’re admitting that you take pride in being wrong whenever evidence against your claim is made.

You dismiss every argument made against you as just "noise", instead of thinking that maybe the other person has a point and that you're wrong.

“I’m not reading allat” is just code for “I’d rather stay ignorant than engage with evidence.”

It IS that deep and it IS that serious

A lot of the time people who say things like "it's not that deep/serious" are scared of seriousness, don't want to have their opinion challenged or they don't want to engage seriously with something that needs to be engaged with seriously.

Everything is as deep as you perceive it to be. You can learn a lot from seemingly mundane, everyday things if you take the time to think about them.

You can't be against fictional cp but okay with other fictional forms of child abuse .

People get so disgusted and morally shocked when fictional cp is shown (which I understand and am disgusted by), but probably are the same people to laugh and make memes of children being Hurt.

Pictures under videos of children and the pictures are of children being Hurt.

What's the difference?

Both are depicting children being Hurt but one is acceptable.

If you get upset by things you see on the internet you shouldn't have internet access,

If seeing something on the internet elicits a negative emotion within you, or you're prone to arguments online, you honestly shouldn't have internet access.

The internet should be a civil place of exchanging ideas, writing excel sheets, and other important things.

If you've ever felt the need to insult someone online or get into arguments you lack any kind of emotional maturity and you're probably not mentally stable enough to be around any large group of people.

Greek mythology is more likely to be real than Christianity.

If one were to take a step back and take an objective look at the world, what they would see is far more in line with the worldview of Greek mythology than with any Abrahamic religion.

In Greek mythology there are multiple gods that serve multiple purposes and are often at odds with one another. Given the chaos of the world existing simultaneously with beauty, love, and other good things, this makes sense.

Abrahamic religions like Christianity believe in one God that is supposedly all loving and all powerful. Given a quick glance at the world this clearly does not make any sense (consider the existence of child cancer, natural disasters, animal suffering, etc.).

For that reason, I fully believe Greek mythology is more plausible than Christianity.

Raising Cane's is Very Good and Even Better without the Sauce.

It's good quality fried chicken, and it's seasoned well.

I simply don't get why people complain that it's not seasoned because it is.

People shamelessly quoting AI is weird

I'd like to preface this by saying that I'm generally not agsinst AI use. I know people use AI tools extensively for both work and as a tool in their general interaction with the world, but in my mind just straight up answering a question with "Gemini/ChatGPT said..." is quite weird for a number of reasons, and I don't like how normalised it's becoming.

For one, I could totally have done that myself if I'd wanted to. I'm asking for your opinion, not information I can just look up. And even if it were information that one could just look up, it's been well publicised how much AI just makes shit up if it can't find something.

I know a case could be made that they're at least being honest about it, but if it were me I'd honestly be quite embarassed to admit how much I'm outsourcing my thought process. People being so open about it is a bit uncomfortable.

I don't understand why people (mostly men) want to date much younger people and I find it weird

I'm a 30 year old man. My peers often tell me how they wish they had a girl in her early 20s, and I just don't get it. What makes you not want to date someone on the same level of maturity as yours?

I think it's pretty weird and sometimes even predatory if the age gap is large (10 years and more). Yes, I know you're gonna say, "As long as both parties consent..", but I personally believe that a huge gap in maturity and the power imbalance influence the relationship a lot. I can't imagine dating someone who's 20 years old at my age, I wouldn't say that it's "basically a child" to me, but it's still someone way out of my league.

I often feel like people in their 30s are going after young adults just to look for someone who's easier to be taken advantage of or who makes them feel smart and mature when standing next to them.

It's not only my personal preference, it's also how I think it's weird in general. What do you have in common with a college student in your late 30s? Either you just wanna get in their pants or nobody your age is willing to date you.

No one should say the n-word

I’m saying this as a black person, the n-word genuinely shouldn’t be as normalized as it is. I understand WHY it was reclaimed, but considering the history of the word it just doesn’t sound good coming out of anyone’s mouths.

It’s gotten to the point where I avoid people who use that word in EVERY. SINGLE. SENTENCE. It’s a filler word for them and that’s crazy to me. No I am not your n-word, please stfu.

Edit: Before this turns into a trump rally I’d like to say that I am very problack and the entire reason I hate the nword is because I’m problack! I find it degrading, and I think that it should be eliminated from the English language as a whole. There are racial slurs for black people in almost every language, so I don’t understand why my community loves to use the English version of it.

And no Kyle, a black person saying they hate the nword does not mean they think white people should say it too.

Prohibition needs to be tried again

Alcohol has no place in society and it needs to be fully banned worldwide.

There are ONLY negative consequences and no positive outcomes associated with alcohol.

People die from it in plenty of ways

-intoxication

-drunk driving

-bad decisions

etc. etc. etc.

It needs to be banned for the betterment of society.

People can learn to deal with it and stop relying on it to have a good time. Anyone who needs alcohol to have fun is a complete swine who shouldn't be trusted to venture outside of their own house.

Deodorant needs to be banned

I think nobody should wear deodorant, especially women.

A person's natural body smell communicates a lot of valuable information about them such as their diet, health, lifestyle, etc.

By using deodorant it gets rid of all of these indicators. In my view, it's a form of catfish and should be socially frowned upon and discouraged.

Long hair doesn't look good on ANYONE.

Long hair is easily one of the worst physical characteristics to purposefully possess, and I think both men and women would be better off with short hair.

Humans are primates. No other primate has long hair. Because of this, humans stand out as being extremely uncanny. The only other animal with hair like us is horses and some breeds of dog.

Long hair just doesn't fit with the rest of how we're physically built/present.

Beyond aesthetic preferences, it's also really disgusting when you think about it. Long hair literally grows out of your head for months and months. All of the length you see was literally inside that persons skull before it grew out. Very few people also know what it takes to maintain healthy long hair, so it just ends up looking greasy and ridiculous.

Nobody should have long hair.

It should be illegal to teach history.

It is my belief that teaching history does more harm than good.

All it does is keep our mindset stuck in the past, unable to ever move forward. It paints certain groups as evil, and others as subjugated. It is not good to instill this into children's minds. It is unfair to bestow people with the burden of humanity's cruelty from the past couple thousands of years.

I don't know if any of you have read The Giver (1993) but I think the world needs to be set up this way. Erase the past, make everyone equal, and start over from a fresh slate.

I could become the king of the planet and introduce all of the needed ideas to sustain society from this point forward and I'd lead humanity into uncharted territory.

Pregnancy announcements should be kept hidden until the day of the birth.

In general, I find it inappropriate and trashy to announce any kind of pregnancy, or even that you're trying to have a child.

Basically, you're saying "I was just cummed in recently". Like, that is honestly disgusting and nobody needs to know that. People should keep things like this to themselves.

People should avoid insinuating anything like this for as long as possible, which would have to be the day of the birth. This has the added benefit of making the baby an even bigger/more special surprise.

Incels are a misunderstood kind

We have had great scientists like Newton, Tesla etc, who were all technically incels or volcels.

Now back to our current times. We are seeing heightened levels of misandry. And incels are the group that seem to bear the major brunt of it all.

Just a few centuries before lonely men were creating and producing cutting technology. Now the world has turned around on the same men with hate.

We have even some "groups" saying "men aren't lonely enough". I think somewhere along the path we have diverged and the world has forgotten it's gratitude with men

"No True Scotsman" and "Slippery Slope" are not logical fallacies. They have been adopted as a way for midwits to easily "debunk" perfectly valid logical structures

This shouldn't even be an "unpopular opinion", because (ironically) this is just a fact. These "fallacies" are not "fallacies" but disputes of the facts of the matter.

When you accuse someone of a slippery slope, what you should be accusing them of is that somewhere in the "A --> B ... --> Z" chain, X does not factually lead to Y. You cannot call something a slippery slope just because of the "A --> B ... --> Z" logical structure. It is a perfectly valid structure if the facts are correct.

Similarly, "No true rectangle has 3 sides, so that triangle cannot be a rectangle" is perfectly valid, and perfectly correct. "No true rectangle is green, so that green thing cannot be a rectangle" indeed a no true scottsman "fallacy". But it is not a logical fallacy. You are disputing the falsehood of "No true rectangle is green", not the logical structure.

Stop attacking argument structures that are perfectly valid because you've heard a misapplied word that described said structure.

Public school should be between the ages of 3-12 instead of 5-17.

School starts way too late and ends way too late in people's lives.

To optimize for the highest quality workers, we should start school earlier. By the age of 3, most people can speak and grasp basic concepts. It's at this point that kids can be taught how to count and how to use programs like Excel.

School is mostly a waste of time, so by optimizing it and teaching only what's necessary (math and science) we can speed the process up and people can graduate at age 12 and begin to enter the work force.

So much time and money could be saved this way.
