[beloved trope] Maybe they won't do it this time...

When a character you love makes an absolutely boneheaded decision, but you still love them so much, that every time you enjoy the media you think, "Hey, maybe they won't do it this time..."

  1. Christine removing the Phantom's mask, resulting in him lashing out and hurting her (Phantom of the Opera)

  2. 9 putting the talisman in the machine, causing the deaths of five other characters (9)

  3. Orpheus looking back at Euridyce, separating them forever (Greek mythology)

At her cleaning appointment the other day, my vet recommended we pull a couple of teeth while she was under. They quoted $1600 for extractions and x-rays, not inclusive of the cleaning. I told her that we just couldn't afford that, and they said they understood and did the cleaning alone.

After I had a mini-breakdown (because I thought the care plan we pay for through the vet covered extractions, and I recognize this needs to be done, but things are so tough out here right now, and we really can't afford $1600 at the drop of a hat), I started researching where I could take her to get it done.

The problem is, most things I'm seeing are quoted at around $1600, because they include a cleaning. She doesn't need that now, it's all done, she just needs x-rays and extractions. We're willing to drive if you have a solid recommendation.

Other options: We could save up, but that's going to take a while, and I want to do right by this animal. I could use a credit card, but I had to use those for some human medical expenses not long ago, and the interest is really hurting. If we could find a vet who would be willing to do this for a reasonable price, that would be the best option.
