what to do in print??

i work in a very not busy store where print has a LOT of down time on certain days where there arent any jobs and nobody at the counter. me and another print coworker like to read when its not busy (idk ab her but for me i like to have smth that i can put down easy and wont get sucked into like my phone) but i just found out our manager doesnt like when we do that. what are we supposed to do? we could check paper trays or run those non-electric vaccums we have or wipe down the surfaces, but that would take like 30 mins tops when we have hours of downtime. we arent rlly supposed to get too far away from the print area because that makes customers wait more if we have to be called up to help them, so what are we supposed to do? walk laps around the machines??

also, why dont we have recycling??!

i know we do tech recycling, but i think its seriously weird and wrong that we dont have recycling bins for paper. idk ab yalls stores, but we waste SO MUCH PAPER!! on a good day maybe not that much, but one small mistake on a big order could mean half a ream or more in the trash. or unhappy customers not wanting what got printed or simply never picking it up after months so we have to throw it away. not to mention all the sales labels, planograms, signage, etc that the store uses for a short time then puts in the garbage. it sucks. how do we make business selling paper and doing print and copy services but theres no recycling?? no way corporate is that cheap

customers getting pissed about the fedex qr codes

i am newer but ive learned from interactions with older employees and customers that we used to do fedex qr codes but then the system got taken away. now people come in, shove a qr code at me, and then get pissed at ME when i tell them we dont even have the system to do it anymore. like bro i just explained that we literally dont have a way to do it why are you acting like i just dont want to get your package shipped??
