Newly Hired as a GM externally. I have been training a week so far, I come from a print and manager background. Any tips for how i can best manage my team and the store?

Happy Independence Day, I know I enjoyed it

Well, the time has come. After over 3 years, I’ve officially been promoted to customer this July 4th. Quite poetic really. I am genuinely surprised by how long I stayed with the company but good riddance. This company has done nothing but obliterate my mental health and dignity. I will definitely miss my team (not you GM) but the constant favoritism, pressure, being taken advantage of, corrupt management was too much.

If you’re looking to apply here… don’t. Run as far away as you can and don’t look back. This company isn’t lasting for much longer anyways and they sure as heck don’t care about you. A coworker can literally disrespect and touch you inappropriately and HR/Managers won’t do a single thing.

So farewell. I know I won’t miss it.

Is This a Real Email or Spam?

I had left Office Depot a few months back and haven't heard anything from them until they sent the email a few days back. No sure if I should click the survey link. If you have worked for OD or OM, how was your experience during and after leaving the company? Did you find a new job or leave because of management issues?

Oldest Item on Shelves?

Got bored today and tried to find the oldest item still on our shelves based on the last received date. Found some forms from exactly 12 years ago. What’s y’all’s oldest item? Idk when exactly Office Depot started using the digital inventory system so I’m not sure how old it can get.

(Anything that reads 1986 or 2099 is an invalid date)

Printer issue

Does anyone know what’s causing this? We’ve already tried changing fusers, and the drums and the issue is still there. Is this a xerox issue that I need to call? (I rather not).

Look, Jax, I know you already bought paper three times this month, but I think you should buy another ream of promo paper at an inflated price.

Thoughts on the company since the merger

I’m just wondering how those of us that’s still around feeling about the takeover with Atlas . At one point some were feeling like Office Depot’s time span may be short but it looks like Atlas is going to look at every cost cutting measure which I’m sure will lead more store closures . I’m hoping that we will condense our skus and invest more into the print side of the business. That’s where the profit is . I think keep 2/3 associates in print consistently will help out tremendously. These are just my thoughts .
