When’s the right time to look for a new boat?

Hi all! I’m just in my second year of whitewater kayaking, absolutely loving it so far. Happy right now in the class II+/III zone and working on progressing skills. I have a liquid logic remix at the moment which is all I’ve ever been in, it was recommended as a great learning boat. It’s definitely nice and stable which I appreciate.

The other day it was mentioned to me that while they’re stable they also might be less nimble and a bit more challenging to go where you want, and it could be worth looking into an upgrade…I like the idea of a boat that’s a bit more fun but I’m also not sure about suddenly being in a super tippy boat when my roll is still inconsistent.

In your experience, when is a good time to move on to a new boat? Any recommendations for a second boat? If it helps, I’m 5’6, F, about 150 lbs and paddle in BC Canada

Hi everyone! Looking for some wisdom on a paddle for WW kayaking. I’d like to invest in the right one that I can keep for a long time.

Here’s my info: I’m newer to kayaking (second year), getting into class III. 5’6, female, strong arms/shoulders but would like to be comfy/not in pain. I’m not doing any playboat stuff and probably not progressing to class IV anytime soon (maybe one day)

My current paddle was given to me for free, it’s a 200cm aqua bound with a big feather (45-60, I can’t quite tell) and it is very ill fitting for me!

What does everyone else like using? Any recommendations for my size/what I’m doing

Budget flexible to find the right one..

Hi everyone, I’ve been very interested lately in pursuing rural family medicine but it’s hard to know if I am romanticizing it or would actually enjoy it without hearing others opinions. I’m wondering if anyone works in small communities (ideally in Canada) would be willing to share their experiences?

For context, I am a genetic counsellor, and I enjoy my field but I am limited to working in major cities and it is a lot of computer time, sitting, and less ability to actually ‘fix’ any medical issues.

I hope to move to a small town, I love the outdoors and adventure sports and knowing the people in your community. I like to use my brain, talk to people, work with my hands, and be challenged.

One of the things I am worried about moving into med would be work/life balance..not sure what that looks like in family med.

Thanks!
