Anyone got any suggestions on how to remove this corrosion / pitting from the shift knob or am I looking at a replacement?

Following up on a post I made nearly 4 months ago. (time flies when life gets busy)

Finally ordered and installed the new Headunit and converted the old in-built phone holder to a wireless charging phone holder.

Head unit I went with wad the Xtrons IMHP94TTA, giving me wireless android auto which was the big ticket item.

Seamless install after I got past the absolute rats nest of wires left by the last guy.
