Are we likely to complete in 10 days if there are still some outstanding enquiries? The sellers solicitor have mentioned they are ready with the onward purchase, but taking alot of time to reply to our enquiries.

The 28th completion date was also proposed by them

Halifax already valued the property at the offer price. The surveyor is booked for friday and i thought of checking if they will include valuation in their report and they came back saying they wont but i can add it for £180+ VAT. Is it worth it if the mortgage is already approved?

FTB here and doing just a snagging survey as the house is just 4 years old.

But as the house is likely out of the 2 years builders warranty, who fixes stuff if there are critical things that come up in the report?

Also, is it wise just to do a snagging survey and not a level 2 one

Been looking and most 1 bed flats close to town center are around 800-900 which seems excessive for Preston. With council tax, water, wifi and heating you are looking at 1200£, who is able to afford this? I live in a shared house and wanted to get my own place but it seems like a distant dream after going through the listings

A close family member got married to his partner abroad and the partner has since moved with him on a dependent visa. My relative has his passport renewal coming up and is very worried if he should declare the marriage, and his partners renewal is probably going to be next year.

Issue is, he initially thought of not declaring it as India does not recognize same sex marriages but then his partner might have to as he is on a dependent visa and he will probably have to submit those documents.

While his partners family is very understanding, his family is conservative and they do not want to declare this if this means that their family might be contacted.

I suppose the advice im asking for is what is the most correct and legal way to navigate this.

This is what they found on the consulate website, does this mean they dont have to declare?

“3.1.3. Regarding the endorsement of spouse name of same sex, the matter was considered in detail in consultation with the L&T Division of the Ministry and the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice. There is no provision in the marriage laws to regulate the marriage of same sex people in India. Endorsement of spouse name of same sex in the passport of an applicant is not advisable.”
