Why did they hire me if they thought that the job I applied for was not going to be my priority?

Why would the company I applied for accept me and hire me if they saw that I was doubtful, was thinking twice about the offer, that they think that the job offer or position was not my priority, and they thought that I'd only last for two to three months, but still hired me? There were different candidates in line as well when I checked the system. There were like 50+ or let's say during the time that I applied, 30 to 40 applicants, but they still chose to hire me?

This is my first week and that’s what the colleagues heard from the superiors who interviewed me. This is my first job as well. My work buddy told me might be because the person who I replaced only lasted a few months or so and is also a fresh grad. I personally think it was because I had time to think about it. But again, everything was transparent about my answers. Main question, again, why they still chose me out of the quick 20 day hiring they had and outta the 40 applicants?

If a company your applying to messages you for an invitation that’s past office hours, do you reply beyond that hour or would you reply within office hours the next day?
