Is this a good deal on a Grand Highlander in California?

Hi everyone,
We’re new to buying a new car and would really appreciate your advice. We’re in the (Peninsula), California, looking at a Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited. The written estimate shows a $5,000 dealer adjustment, but the salesperson texted us saying they’re removing $4,000 of it, so we’d only be paying a $1,000 dealer adjustment. They also said the side guards (or side moldings) would be included at no extra charge. We’re not in a rush to buy, so we’re trying to make sure we’re getting a fair deal and not overpaying. We’re also willing to travel a bit if it means getting a better deal elsewhere. Based on your experience, is a $1,000 dealer adjustment reasonable for a Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited, or should we keep shopping and hold out for MSRP with no markup? Any advice on what else we should negotiate or watch out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Need help moving a couch into a 2nd-floor apartment in Belmont (stairwell too narrow)

Hi everyone, i'm new to Belmont and ran into a moving problem.

We have a brand new couch from Living Spaces that won’t fit up the narrow stairwell of our apartment. We’ve checked moving services (including TaskRabbit), but no one we’ve contacted has the equipment or ability to get it upstairs.

The couch is approx. 84" x 30" x 48.5" (all cushions removed, nothing else detachable). Right now it’s sitting in the carport and we’ve been asked by management to remove it ASAP.

The only option we can think of is lifting/hoisting it up to the second-floor balcony, but we’re not sure what’s actually feasible or safe.

Has anyone dealt with something like this or know of any services/equipment in the Bay Area that could handle it?

Any advice appreciated.

Hello everyone! We just moved to Belmont. Such a beautiful city. One of the main reasons we relocated is for childcare support since we have family nearby, and we’re hoping to settle here long-term. My work commute is about 20 minutes, so that’s been working out well.

I wanted to ask for some advice about apartments in the area. We’re currently looking for a 2-bedroom, and most of what we’re seeing online has a base rent around $3,800–$4,200 per month. And not a lot of options/availability too. From what I understand, that doesn’t include additional fees, just the base rent.

Does that sound typical for the current market in Belmont? We’ve only searched online so far, but we’re planning to drive around tomorrow to check out places in person as well.

Any tips, insights, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
