Is anyone going to see Focker-In-Law?

I went to the movies to see the new Spiderman movie, and one of the previews had me really surprised! There was a trailer of this comedy movie called Focker-In-Law (sounds silly asf), and it seems really funny. After the trailer ended, there was this zesty guy that shouted out "OOOOOH ARIANA WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!💅" Which had me dead on the floor-

So it looks like that Ariana is going back to acting in movies. Are you willing to see it? I want to know what you think!

Hootie Frutti is making me uncomfortable. Here's why :/

Disclaimer, forgive me for the typos, I just got my nails done.

Ok so, Ive been thinking about this since watching the MV because I genuinely didn't know what to say.

For context, I was born in Rio de Janeiro and spent a large part of my childhood and life in Brazil before moving to the US, so this is coming from someone who actually grew up around Brazilian culture. Im not claiming to speak for every Brazilian, but I do want to explain why this rubbed me the wrong way.

I genuinely don't think the members intentionally mean any harm. They're just doing their jobs..but the exaggerated Portuguese accent really bothers me. Daniela saying “eu sei que tu gosta da fruta, mas essa é diferente” at the start of the song with such exaggerated pronunciation feels less like naturally speaking Portuguese and more like putting on a stereotypical “Brazilian” voice.

just so you know, there is no "Brazilian" voice. There are many parts of Brazil where accents, expressions, slang, pronunciations are entirely different. Even in how people use tu or você is different. Places like São Paulo, Bahia, Pernambuco, Minas Gerais, the South, etc. So when a production goes, "Okay, make it sound Brazilian," it feels like they don't truly appreciate Brazil as a country but exploit it as a way to stay relevant. They're creating this generalized, exaggerated version of “Brazilian” speech that doesn't really belong to one particular place, yk?

So when you combine that with the oversexualized concept, wearing the brazil flag, aggressive back-snapping-level twerking with Brazilian-inspired sounds, it starts feeling like fetish/culture appropriation rather than appreciative.

Also, phonk originated from 1990s Memphis/Southern hip-hop, while baile funk developed in Brazilian communities decades ago. “Brazilian phonk” is a much newer internet-era fusion of the two. Brazilian funk has its own history and culture, so this isn't just a generic "sexy Brazilian aesthetic."

I actually love seeing Brazilian music get international attention. I just wish it felt more genuine and less like "Brazil = sexy accent + funk beat" because my country is much more than that.

Maybe other Brazilians feel completely differently, and that's okay. I'd genuinely love to hear your perspectives because I watched this mv and just sat there like "👁️👄👁️ nah what the fuq..?"

Honey, where?...

Youtube has the most braindead eyekons. These eyekons are a different breed of delusion. The comments are like "she's blinking fast" (literally where??) "her voice is cracking🥺" (no it's because she can't sing)

Gosh, she seems fine to me, she smiled at the end, but idk, maybe I'm blind. Do you guys see it?

Anitta's Equilibrivm Albums

These videos kinda warned us how badly exploited they'll be.

Eyekon-me should've realized they were exploited then. Now after everything that's happened, waking up and knowing that there are predatory eyes who like this kind of content. This video makes me uncomfortable...or maybe I'm looking too far into this but idk..

Open ended questions! 😏

Let's take a time travel back to the Gnarly era. 🥪 Feel free to answer 1 question, 2 questions, or all 3 questions.

  1. If you could describe each of the members with one, single word, what would it be and why?
  2. If you could describe KATSEYE as a group right now (wild era) with one-single word, what would it be and why?
  3. If you could describe EYEKONS with one-single word, what would it be and why?

This gonna get messy...... 😏

Reporting Responsibly Reminder.

Reports are for content that actually breaks our rules or Reddit's Content Policy, not for opinions you disagree with, minor corrections, or comments that simply annoy you.

This has happened way too much lately so I just wanted to give a reminder to everyone.

Reporting a comment because someone corrected a spelling ("Filipino," not "Philipino") or because you disagree with what they said isn't what the report button is for.

Please avoid reporting posts/comments unless they genuinely violate a rule. False or unnecessary reports make it harder for the mod team to find actual issues that need attention.

If you see harassment, hate, threats, spam, or other rule-breaking content, absolutely report it. We'll get to them as soon as possible. Otherwise, it's usually best to downvote, reply respectfully, or move on.

Help us keep the queue clean by reporting only when it's actually necessary. Thank you.

Ariana Grande is slowly dying and fans aren't giving a damn. Let that sink in.

Why does it feel like any time someone mentions being worried about Ariana Grande's health, they get hit with a body shaming accusation immediately?

Look, I am not talking about the people who go out of their way to mock her or post nasty comments about how she looks. That is just being mean. What I am actually referring to are the folks who just notice she looks different than she did a few years back and say something simple like, "I really hope she is doing okay." But the reaction you get is almost always the same. You are told to stop body shaming, or someone claims she has always been this thin, or they just tell you to mind your own business.

To me, those things are not the same at all.

I think it is possible to point out that a person looks different without it being an insult or trying to act like you are their doctor. Saying "I hope they are healthy" is a far cry from trying to diagnose them with something specific. And I really do not get the "she has always been this thin" line of thinking. If you look at photos from different parts of her career or even just follow what she has been up to, the change is pretty obvious. Noticing that is not an attack. It is just a basic observation.

I think we all know that she went through so much, it's clear that whatever she's dealing with is mental. Mental health is so important and should be taking seriously. You cannot be this delusional or braindead to think everything is fine.

So is this a case of fans being so protective that they confuse genuine worry with body shaming? Or has the whole discussion just become so polarized that mentioning her health at all is treated as straight-up hate? I am honestly curious where the line is supposed to be drawn these days..

This is the start of my villain arc.

This is the beginning of my villain arc. I just removed myself from The worst most evil place on the whole internet: r/ariheads . I CAN'T SAY ANYTHING WITHOUT GETTING DOWNVOTED TO HELL. I swear, being positive or asking questions like EVERYONE ELSE or genuinely expressing my concerns about Ariana's declining health never works, I get downvoted, shat on, muted, or removed. Their mods are some cuzões too. Maybe you folks might give me some slack. I don't know babes.

Your new member of this sub has officially arrived. 😌🫩

AITJ: Katseye Edition 🥀

Am I the Jerk for being uncomfortable with my little sister watching KATSEYE music videos? Both my mom and my friends thought I overstepped as a sister for not letting my sister watch Animal. So now I'm overthinking the entire situation. Here's what happened:

I am an (18f) who babysat my 5 year old sister, who I will call, "Mia." She's smart, she's funny, and a DIE-HARD Eyekon. We were just in the living room singing and dancing to Kpop Demon Hunters and Gracie's Corner. Yes, she's five. Don't judge me for participating in our mini concert lol.

Once we finished, I gave her some fruit snacks and we sat on the couch, searching for a video to watch on Youtube. As I was scrolling, Mia took the remote and turned on the Animal music video. I've already seen the it, so I told her, "Hm, I don't know, I think it's best to stick to any song BUT this one for now, okay?" I suggested Touch, Debut, Internet Girl, Gabriela, etc." SOMETHING NOT SEXUAL, but still Katseye, but she wasn't having it. She began whining and kicking and screaming.

I turned on Touch then she stopped crying and randomly started dancing again. I assumed that everything was fine after that.

But no.

My mom came home, Mia ran into her arms, and said, "SISSY WOULDN'T LET ME WATCH KATSEYE."

For some background, My mom BARELY knew anything about Katseye. She just knew Mia loved them. She knew about the members, but didn't know their names, she threw Mia a SIS era Katseye party on her 5th birthday, got her a matching cake and everything. She didn't know the songs nor seen the music videos.

My mom asked Mia, "Why didn't she let you watch Katseye?"
"She thinks it's inappropriate," she replied.
"Inappropriate?" Mom looked up at me like I made her watch it. Wtf.

I said "Yeah, there were some iffy parts in the music video and I didn't feel comfortable letting her see it, so we didn't watch it."

"Oh, I see. Okay ok."

An hour later, it was time to take Mia to bed. After that, she came into my bedroom and told me, "Mia seemed really upset when you didn't let her watch the video. What was inappropriate about it."
I calmy responded "Mom, the members are in lingerie, the lyrics are suspicious, and there are adult references. I didn't feel comfortable letting a kindergartner to be exposed to that kind of content not knowing whether you were okay with it or not." - REASONABLE RESPONSE RIGHT?

"Show me the video, because in the end of the day, I'm her mom."
I showed her the video from beginning to finish. SHE DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. "A five year old will overlook this. She's fine. And you have certainly overstepped. Disgrace."

Then, I was thinking "How the hell did I overstep when I was the babysitter? I was the only ADULT IN THE HOUSE?" But I didn't want to say it aloud. She's a Brazilian mom. She can get scary.

She got out of my room and I whipped my phone out. Texting my friends' group chat. They said the same thing as my mom. I overstepped. My bf thought I didn't, "You were her temporary "mom" at the time, you had to make that decision in that moment. What did she expect you to do? Let the kid do whatever and walk all over you just because you didn't want to upset her? Like get out. "

Now I'm coming here to ask a bunch of strangers this: Did I overstep or did I try to protect the child I babysat? I really need to know.

I'm on the website and too lazy to install the app for a poll lmao

Out of all the recent KATSEYE songs released, which one do you think is the worst, and which one do you think is the most tolerable?

Your options: Internet Girl, Pinky Up, Iconic by Mistake, Animal
For me, I think Pinky Up is the worst and Animal is the most tolerable.

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions. :)

u/st4r06 — 25 days ago

so I finished the Animal mv

Okay, hear me out. Don't come for me. This song is much better than what we've been getting for the past several months (aka, every song after Gabriela)

It's catchy, but the music video had me cringe. The girls are practically half-naked, especially Megan.
Yoonchae didn't look too bad. I was lowkey expecting worse but she looked pretty good.
Daniela and the damn brows. I swear to god.
Lara doing too much as usual, not surprised. It's funny how she's like the gayest member who kissed the straightest member.
Sophia, I liked that she was finally in center, as the leader she's supposed to be.

The song overall, I'd say it's Gnarly and Gabriela had a baby. But I'd rather listen to this than Iconic by mistake, pinky up, and internet girl.

What are your thoughts?

Lara.

I’m getting this off my chest. Lara’s whole brand lately feels like it’s just “look at me, boys, I’m hot” on REPEAT. It never ends, I swear to God.

That stage licking Megan incident? Girl… in front of a crowd with a lot of young fans?? 😭

The constant thirst-trap styling, the “barely wearing anything” outfits, the exaggerated sexy facial expressions/dance choices while the other members are just performing normally… it’s starting to feel less like confidence and more like she’s trying to prove a point that she is trying to seduce than to perform like a NORMAL HUMAN BEING.

Even her selfies give off this “I’m too cool to smile” persona 24/7. Like ma’am you are allowed to look happy. It's not illegal, I promise.

And the Manon making out incident in Chicago was another one where I was just like… okay we get it, you’re edgy and provocative.

I don’t dislike Lara. She’s talented and clearly confident. But the constant “I’m the sexy member” branding is starting to overshadow everything else about her. I've seen people on tiktok call her a prostitute/stripper and that is NOT a good look on her part, nor the whole group itself.

What makes me question it more is that KATSEYE’s audience has a LOT of younger fans. A lot of kids and young teens look up to these girls, copy their style, and see them as role models. So I wonder where people draw the line between “confident performer” and “a brand that’s constantly pushing a mature image that may be too inappropriate for this kind of audience.”

Do you think this is just Lara’s natural personality/style, or do you think the company is pushing her into a specific “sexy member” role, which is weird af? I really want to hear what you guys have to say about this one lol
