Dog owners - be careful around Ihaumatao area (TW - gore)
I pulled in to walk my dog and a lady told me not to let my dog out because she and her dog had just been attacked by three off lead dogs. I asked if she was ok and she showed me her hand - one of the dogs had bitten off half of her finger. Like, it was a bloody stump. I’ve never seen anything like it. Her friend was on the phone to an ambulance - they had been waiting 30 mins and no ambulance had been dispatched yet. I suggested the friend just drive her to Middlemore because that wait time and still no dispatched ambulance was a joke and they would be waiting all day. I think the shock was wearing off because the pain was starting to really hit her. It was pretty traumatic
So I’d stay away from there tbh, or keep your dog on a lead so you know where it is at all times and have deterrents incase these ferals show up again if you do walk around there
If you cycle/e-scooter/skate on the North Western Cycleway from the city PLEASE OBEY GIVE WAY SIGNS!!!!
The “Give Way” on the ground can be seen from satellite view - how do you all not see it!?! The ramp from Newton Bridge is even worse! (Although not as frequently used from what I’ve seen). Do you just think “it’ll be fine” and assume there will never be a car? I see so many that don’t even look to see if there’s a car coming and just barrel though at full speed! I’m no rocket scientist but I’m pretty confident my tonne of metal will win against your bike, even though I’m literally crawling forward because so many of you DONT GIVE WAY!!!! I don’t want to have to administer aid when you’ve ridden your bike/scooter/whatever into the side of my car at 30-50km/h. I will, but I don’t want to, I would rather you get home safely and I get to where I am going sans avoidable trauma.
I would also like to kindly ask you ensure you’re up to date on who gives way on a two way street where there are parked cars blocking one direction - being on two wheels doesn’t make you above the law.
Thank you for your attention to this matter
