DWX compact steel grip project - update

Finished the first full grip out of aluminum today. Everything fits perfectly except for the one thing I hadn't been able to check with my other test parts - the magazine clashes with the back wall of the FCU by maybe .050" and won't fully insert. Should be a pretty simple fix, but at least it latches properly without the FCU installed.

My DWX compact steel grip project

Thought some of you might find this interesting. I've been able to get most of the key interfaces fitting properly in a couple of aluminum test parts I made. Didn't have the right size stock on hand to build the whole thing, but that should be coming in early next week. Once I've proven the geometry and setups in aluminum, then I'll move onto steel.

I made my own extended thumb safety for the DWXc

The CZ store took way too long to deliver their extended safety, so in the meantime I designed and machined my own. It finally arrived the day I finished the fully functional prototype out of 4140. I still like mine much better than the OEM part; it has a much more comfortable thumb ledge. Compare the two in the third picture - my design is on top, and the OEM part is on the bottom.

ETA: For those of you not familiar with the DWX, it is not compatible with any off the shelf thumb safeties.

ETA: I’m considering making a batch of five or so. They're machined from 4140, bead blasted and cold blued, right-hand single-sided, with an oversized lug requiring minor fitting. Introductory price would be $129 plus shipping. These are being done on my small CNC mill so my machine time per part is about 3 hours. Is anyone seriously interested? If so, send me a direct message.
