Poor Concert Attendance Does Not Signal Declining Interest In Classical Music

I don't want to get into opinions about Hurwitz as a critic on recordings and stick to the topic at hand. This is one of the rare times I disagree with just about every word he says here. Some of it just next level denial.

Those of you who went to DCI HOUSTON last year at UH

How was the viewing and listening experience? There was a review on it here last year and one guy made a post and said it was very weird venue due to the fact that the bottom level was very low inclined and then the upper level was really vertical. Was wondering if I should get tickets to the upper rows of the bottom level or bottom rows of the upper level?

For those that do and don’t like classical symphonic music, why?

For those that do and don’t like classical, and also do like it for that matter, why? What about it repels or attracts you to it.
For example, I like it due to the sound of an orchestra. The great melodies and wide range of musical colors you get with all the instruments. Don’t even really need to know what the work is about. Just let the sounds and music take you were they take you. Plus even decades later after I first heard things like pictures at an exhibition or any of the Mahler symphonies, they still hit just as hard as they did if not more so than when I first heard them.
