Cerbo + Multiplus II configuration?
TLDR; can the multiplus II inverter be programmed for battery configs and AC input limits/options out of box using the Cerbo GX instead of having to use the usb programming cable?
Hi guys!
New installation here, helping a friend. So far I’ve only received and tested a multiplus II 3000w 48v unit along with a 150 | 70 charge controller for a 48v 4x 12v series LFP battery setup.
At the off-grid cabin, we fired up the Multiplus II and ran several tests. Appliances worked well running from the battery bank. Inverter portion was A+.
The manual reads that the DC side only supplies (charges) the battery bank at up to 35A (1680 watt). We attempted to run the AC input from the 3800W generator. We plugged into the 30 connector. AC input light illuminated, charging began and roughly 1700w was being applied to the battery bank. The inverter would then disable charging after 20 seconds or so, it’d automatically wait and retry after another 20 seconds and repeat this same cycle. I’m assuming the inverter is detecting an input discrepancy that it’s unhappy with.
Being totally new to the multiplus II but familiar many other victrion products, I had no idea it didn’t have Bluetooth built in. My xantrex XC2000 had that. No huge deal, should have read the installation guides, eh? Lol.
Friend plans on ordering a Cerbo GX for remote monitoring/controls, etc. Do I absolutely have to have the Victron usb adapter to program this inverter or will the Cerbo device give me proper ability to configure the unit? EDIT: and can this all done via Bluetooth without requirement of the touch screen hardware?
Unfortunately; the charge controller arrived DOA. Pv input is a dead short. Tested pv input wiring at 60-70v before connecting and proper polarity. Turning on PV breaker immediately kicks pv breaker even with charging mode disabled and trying to limit amperage in the settings. Will get a replacement on the way.
