Hey everyone!

As a fellow AYN Thor enthusiast, I felt like our secondary display deserved a bit more functionality for games that use only one screen. So, I spent my spare time building Megingiard — a dedicated companion app designed to turn that bottom screen into a powerhouse tool belt.

It’s built exclusively for the Thor and focuses on sub-millisecond latency, be it for customized inputs or mirroring your primary screen.

It is a work in progress of course. I have a backlog full of ideas but would be very happy to get your feedback and implement new features / improvements based on community ideas :)

🛠️ What can it do?

• Custom MacroPad: Create your own button layouts. Map them to keyboard keys, gamepad buttons, or even complex timed macros.
• Zero-Latency Screen Mirror: Mirror a part of your primary screen to the bottom one. Great for keeping a map, a guide, or an inventory visible at all times. Includes Pan & Zoom, custom viewport selection and a freeze option.
• Virtual Trackpad & Keyboard: High-precision mouse control (less than 1ms latency) and a full QWERTY/QWERTZ/AZERTY layout for when you just need to type something quickly. Not very comfortable, but very handy when you cannot invoke the OS keyboard or the app does not register your inputs (can happen with streaming apps, GameNative, GameHub etc.).

🤖 Transparency on AI usage

I want to be upfront: I’ve been working as a professional software engineer for almost 20 years. I make heavy use of agentic AI tools to help build this as a solo side project. It’s what allowed me to get the features and polish to this level in my free time. If you do not condone AI usage in software development, that is a fair stance. However, this is not the place to vent about it. Please be nice!

P.S.: Here's an example of a macro that combines touch and gamepad input to enable Gamepad controls in Genshin Impact, something very annoying that you have to do after every restart of the game.
