Research Study Opportunity: Seeking Transgender Women and Gender-Diverse Individuals 18 Years and Older Starting Estrogen Based Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy

My name is Matilda Delgado and I am a clinical researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston, MA. I’m writing to share some information regarding a research study that we are currently recruiting for. We are actively seeking transgender women and gender-diverse individuals to study how an at-home resistance exercise program can prevent decreases and muscle mass and muscle strength in those starting estrogen-based gender-affirming hormone therapy.
You would be assigned to either a 12-week exercise program that you can do at home or encourage to work-out on your own during this time. You would also participate in two visits at MGH (a baseline and then a final in approximately 13 weeks). The study has been approved and is monitored by a research board at MGH. Participants are eligible for up to $480 in compensation. Additionally, for each visit, we cover any transportation (within the Greater Boston area) and parking expenses and provide you with a meal ticket.
