Am I the only one who thinks we should be looking at Sidny Lopes Cabral as our LB signing?
He's only 23, reportedly valued around €4-7m, and for someone in that price range his numbers are surprisingly good. Last season he put up 6 goals and 5 assists from left-back in Liga Portugal with an average rating of 7.16. That's elite attacking output for a full-back, especially considering he isn't playing for one of the league's biggest clubs. He also has champions league experience.
His world cup performance has been surprisingly good. Cape Verde were one of the biggest surprises of the tournament and he was one of their standout players. They held Spain to a 0-0 draw, with lamine as right winger.
I understand playing for Barça is a completely different level, and stats alone don't make a player Barça quality. But for the money we have to pay, he feels like a very low-risk, high-upside signing. He's two-footed, athletic, can play on either flank, and still has plenty of room to improve.
Has anyone here watched him regularly outside the World Cup?
