8 years have flown by!

I was a Shift Manager for 16 years until I was made redundant (I snatched their hand off) 8 years ago. Truth be told I was handing my notice in that day, redundancy just meant I had to stay 12 more weeks.

I'd already got a job at the depot as I'd passed my HGV and was successful in my assessment drive and interview. To say I was elated was an understatement. I practically cartwheeled out of the shop on my last morning there, swapping a £24k salary for £65k a year and an absolute shit ton of stress relieved.

Was I nervous? YES! I didn't sleep well for my first 4 weeks, over thinking and struggling with all the tacho rules, reversing, manoeuvring etc. But I tell you something, it's THE BEST move I have ever made! I could never work in a retail store ever again. I still see old faces and see how the replacements from Project Leo have struggled, left, been replaced and how much the shift struggles on.

IF you can get out, don't be afraid to look for something completely different. It used to be a great job, not so much by the time I left and according to those I speak to, definitely not so now
