People who have liked me end up automatically in my matches section, despite having never swiped on them.

Feeling the fatigue, I've taken a bit of a backseat on swiping and only really go on the app when I'm not busy.

This weekend however, I've noticed a strange pattern where I get a new like notification and then that person immediately goes into the matches section and starts messaging me, despite still having the option to swipe on them in the 'people' section. These profiles seem to be real, as they abruptly stop messaging me despite the positive conversations (lol), so I'm not sure if it could be bots, or bumble doing this on purpose to get back on the app.

Has anyone else experienced this?

PhD supervisors are not accepting informal chats due to being inundated, need help

I recently got in touch with a supervisor, as I was unable to arrange for an informal chat to discuss suitability, as the submission button seemed to not be working. He said that they were inundated with requests and would not hold any further appointments. I replied back to him and thought I would try and ask about things (lab skills, experience etc.) he'd like to see in potential students, to which he had replied back to me.

I am unsure about the level of communication that I should have with him, given that he's probably busy and what not however, I am a little concerned about the requirement for the level of communication required to be had between students and potential supervisors, to be able to apply for and be considered for this position, as stated in the programme description.

Should I continue to email him and see what develops from there, or should I leave him alone? All other supervisors were free for chats and as such I have never been in this predicament before. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated

EDIT: Corrected the last paragraph for clarity. Apologies :)
