Hi all! I'm starting a PhD in Marine Science at USM this fall, based at the Stennis Space Center campus. Arriving late July 2026.

Looking for housing in Bay St. Louis, Waveland, or Picayune (open to nearby areas). Still deciding between a studio/1BR or a roommate setup.

Questions for anyone local:

Good neighborhoods or complexes near Stennis?

Typical 1BR rent range?

Is a car necessary, or can I get by without one at first?

Any grad-student-friendly landlords or housing groups?
